I actually liked the way Vanessa and Doof's story went out with Vanessa telling her dad that he's not really evil and is just using his backstory as a way to justify his actions. I'm pretty sure this was supposed to be more of a spoof of The Winter Soldier. The elevator scene is a dead giveaway.

Season 5 of Community had its lowest ratings with a premiere ratings share of 1.3 with around 3.49 million viewers which Constantine beat with a 1.4 rating share and 4.28 million viewers while also being on the Friday Night slot. And a show doesn't need to be on the air for years in order to have a huge loyal fanbase.

I'm not giving up hope yet for Constantine to come back. After all, AV club claimed Community wasn't likely to come back after NBC cancelled it.

If he leaves, the show is dead. They can't possibly make more episodes since he provides around 1/3 of the voices.

It's not dead until there are absolutely no possible channels or providers to pick it up. We still have CW, Amazon, Netflix, and HBO.
