They should have done what the book did and at least focus on Catelyn’s POV of her son fucking everything up. The Robb stuff was just so needless, especially when they made a smart cut in trimming a bit of the Arya stuff that was, basically, setting the atmosphere for how it’s out there in the country. 

I mean the show did have her and The Hound go to King’s Landing to finish their arcs, with The Hound telling her it’ll consume and kill her if she does it, and her backing off of it. But from a tactical POV, Dany’s actions post-Night King slayage weren’t great and were essentially plot contrivances for her heel-turn.
