"I dunno if I can agree with this...I mean, if the movie weren't based upon her sexuality or looks, I very much doubt Angelina would've been cast."

I *loved* the black wig in Salt, and I can't remember whether it was in Vogue or Vanity Fair but she posed in a lime-colored wig and another colored one (ultra-violet?). HAWT! And I'd love to see what RuPaul would do with Angelina Jolie.

Agreed - the theatrical version of Salt, while I enjoyed it, is full of loopholes. But can't have high expectations of summer popcorn genre movies - mostly just in for the ride whether action, fast cars, loud explosions, big guns, road trips, bromances, gross outs, comics, sci-fi, horror, etc.

@CuffLinks: With Dame Dench, you mean cast against type by age? and with Janine Garofalo by her ability to portray Cleopatra by your very own definitions? I agree with your statement: "Great leaders of both either sexes have harnessed this power throughout history." Look at Napoleon, and Henry Kissinger's

P.S. Yes, Jolie probaby will be 'uglified' or undergo some kind of body modification through prosthesis or otherwise - just like Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Robert De Niro, Christian Bale, 50 Cents.

@CuffLinks: The way I read your comment (please correct me if I’m wrong ), it seems you put the emphasis on Cleopatra’s ability to seduce as the main reason she was able to be a good leader, whereas Pulitzer Prizewinner Stacy Schiff’s "Cleopatra: A Life," based on well-researched study of historical accounts of

And then there's the power dynamics of employer-employee, like Mackenzie Phillips believing she had a 'consensual' incestual 'relationship' with her father. There's the grooming/seducing/buying of gifts so that the the child or person without the power feels beholden to the person who has the power in the

@doit2julia and Rooo sez BISH PLZ: Actually the tabs do discrimate against the Jolie-Pitt kids the same way - the double whammy of (1) adopted vs. biological, and (2) kids of color vs. white.

I totes love Michelle Obama as the people's FLOTUS, but why - in all sincerity - did she do this?

@Megganna: Amen. I think that's what's getting lost here. The REAL story is Comcast/NBC merger, Merecith Attwell Baker...hell, even the New York Times wrote an editorial about the revolving door between government officials (whatever party) and corporations and their lobbyists. I followed Jezebel's and the video's

@StuckOnRepeat: Other commenters have noted that wanting kids has been a constant in his relationships. I was hoping Brad wasn't one of those men who had to have his blood/gene pool passed on, (actually, I'd hoped she'd never met him because of the ensuing grief, but she and the kids are happy, so...) but it seems

And just for comparison with Bridesmaids' upcoming 2nd weekend - May 20-22, here are the drops from 3 movies which opened May 6 (i.e., May 13-15 was their 2nd weekend):

It's all good; no need to see it (even on Netflix) if "Apatow" makes something anathema to you - although you'll miss out on 6 awesome women together as an ensemble.

Jennifer, is that you?

It's not just low-brow humor. Here's my answer to a guy's comment in a film blog about Bridesmaids not having enough heart and humanity:

That someone is *more* than a manager, that someone is a CEO. Dodai attritubted the quote to FilmDistrict CEO Peter Schiessel, but Graham King of GK Films is the one that was quoted by Deadline Hollywood. That phrase is used often, not only in Hollywood, not only in the arts, but also in science, politics, etc.

A couple of articles I read said that "Bal" and "Kan" translated to "blood" and "honey" (I forget which is which) in Turkish. In the several reports about Film District's acquisition of "In the Land of Blood and Honey" and announcement of its release date, they said Angelina agonized for months about the name and

Hi, I'm Asian three. That's Brangeloony, and proud of it. :D But no, I didn't look up the coordinates.

Thanks, Moonbird - now I know not to use it. :-)

OK, it’s from a celebrity gossip blog, but I trust it, not Us Weekly. Note that Us Weekly conveniently rearrranged the order of the interview to make it seem as if Chaz deliberately brought up Shiloh to pimp her book/movie when Chaz actually was talking about her life as she wrote in her book, and THEN was asked about
