Good call on the Crow influences. That particular Gotham definitely feels like the sort of place where the devil would stand abashed at the sight of awful goodness (as opposed to having a boot-scootin’ boogie lit by the moon, like other Batman-adjacent devils have been known to do).
If the movie is so horrible that they’d rather throw the money away than try to recoup, then I *definitely* want to see it. #releasetheanycut
Thanks, exactly the sell I was looking for! Yeah, I think I came in with the wrong mindset, recalling more about my headspace at the time. I was in the mood for something in between Nolan and Burton, and when this didn’t hit that very particular and arbitrary chord, I immediately amplified the movie’s faults and…
I must have been in the wrong mood or something when I watched The Batman, because I couldn’t even finish it. Is it worth a second chance? If they’re set to go all in on this continuity, I’d like to keep up as a franchise fan, but TB just felt like such a lifeless slog.
Okay, I have very little bad to say about that trailer. Looks charming and self-aware in the same way the Goosebumps movie was, albeit at a fraction of the budget.
That was the one where a ragtag group of Colonial Marines are fighting swarms of Legally Blondes, right? Yeah, that was a weird direction for them to take.
No Huell? I thought they were memorializing Breaking Bad, where’s the star of the show?
Can we just start a new wave of surnames with future themes? Like, how would we go about that? Just start a new generation of last names like “Jetson” and “Asteroidsmith” and “Holograham”, try to kickstart the flying cars and dome cities that way.
If it means we can finally see Max Headroom’s pants and I can stop writing daily, increasingly frantic letters to Mr. Frewer inquiring after such, then sure.
I’m thinking spinoff time, baby. *cracks knuckles* Let the Pitch Doctor, ahhhh, do his work.
Heh, AV Club still existing after 2025...
They blew it by not securing the Frasier reboot, and now Paramount+ will reap that sweet sweet cultural zeitgeist money while NBC crumples unnoticed in a corner yearning for lost days of tossed salad and scrambled eggs.
a new compilation is a welcome relief for fans eager to revel in Em’s most memorable hits
What was missing? A Dogwelder movie, Marvel announcing that all future Hollywood movies will be legally obligated to tie in to the MCU somehow, the ghost of Bob Denver eating lunch with the ghost of Strom Thurmond, a screening of Yentl 2: Yentl Gone Mentl, a giant marble with a hat... I mean, I could go on.
Might want to check that link to the X review.
...is what I’d say if there were still editors here.
That’s why I love Bruce Campbell panels: He shuts that shit down, is entertaining about it, and backs off before it gets too mean.
There’s no sign of guns and boss battles and i-frames in the old writings either.
Because it was written that way by the writers. There you go, the mystery has been definitively solved. I know you get scared when you see melanin on screen, but I promise, you’ll still be able to turn on Tucker Carlson when the credits roll.
Ummm, hi, yes, umm... can you hear m- hi, yes, sooooo... You know the, uhhh... sorry, let me start over, sorry, ummm... so, this is a six part question. Well, parts four and five are really more anecdotes than questions, and part two is really a three part question in itself... I guess I can boil it down to one part,…
