Realistic reloading. Keeping my magazine full in shooters is so second nature that, when you waste ammo by reloading a partially full magazine, I can’t deal. I’ll hit that R key hundreds of times and waste uncounted rounds before I can wrestle my reflexes long enough to get through the game.

Agreed. Nothing in the world wrong with a jump scare that’s earned, IMO. The “tension, scare, tension, no scare, tension BIG SCARE” routine is tried and true for a reason, and it can set you up well for more substantial horror and dread as the movie goes on. The first half of Insidious got to me, too. Hell, it still gets under my skin, even knowing that the series eventually turns Lin Shaye into Neo and becomes an unintentional comedy.
