That rings a bell, but I can’t remember much more than what you described. Makes me think of those VHS light gun games, though. Now THOSE were something. Not something good, but something.

Hmm... I was going to say Tex Murphy, 7th Guest, and Shivers 2, but the actual gameplay in those aren’t FMV-based.
I love FMV the way I love a shitty horror movie. It’s looked back on as a misstep in gaming, but I’m so glad it existed. (just a shame that so many of them can be such a bitch to run on modern machines, and even in VMs)
That’s a shame, but for this to be the first real misstep in such a long running, unique and expansive project is damned impressive.
Exactly. The old DS controllers were kind of a nightmare for the big-handed of us, despite the layout and overall design being among the best of all time. (not counting the DS3's shoulders, which always sucked, and the 3 and 4's habit of eventually suffering from ghost inputs)
“Who is the French Stewart of 2019?”
The AV Club
Thanks for the recs! (and yeah, How Did This Get Played is awesome, haha)
Lately I’ve been on a “bad music review” kick. A la “Why I Hate This Album”, “Pod Minutes To Cast Night”, etc.
I’m so glad that these movies are taking off. They’re fantastically funny (a lot of the visual gags remind me of the best of the Zucker spoofs), and truly unlike anything else out there.
I’ve been having the worst luck with podcasts lately. Every time I start a new one that I really like, it seems like they have their last episode a week later, or go on an unannounced hiatus for months at a time, only to drop the very occasional episode months later (either ignoring the hiatus’ existence or just…
I enjoyed the hell out of it, honestly. It could have been far, far worse for a slasher movie about the Banana Fucking Splits. An aggressively silly, shoestring budget splatter flick was exactly what I wanted out of it, and it delivered on that. I’m also endlessly amused by the fact that the Sid & Marty Krofft canon…
Now what about the banner ads that have been squeezing past ABP on here lately? Can’t even block element on those little bastards.
Jesus, I’m in the wrong line of work. (assuming that shit actually sells...)
As a lifelong, seasoned horror junkie in his 30s... the AYAOTD opening STILL gives me chills.
So, so many albums. I’m the kind of person who discovers an album and then it becomes all I want to listen to until I get sick of it. For example, I’ve been a huge fan of Marilyn Manson for almost twenty years now, but I’m more or less burnt out on most of their albums just from sheer overplay. If I hear “Beautiful…
And the right don’t get to pull the “save the unborn children” card when they have “But m’guns!” and “Fuck the poor, I’ve got mine” in the same hand. Don’t pretend to have any sort of high ground.
I haven't played Man of Medan yet, but between what I've heard about it and what I've seen of The Inpatient, I'm starting to think that Until Dawn was a one-off burst of greatness (Including Rush of Blood, which was a brilliant little side thing). I'd hate to see Supermassive's legacy be "One and a half great games…
I always think of F13 as one of the final gasps of the “multimedia CD-ROM” era of PC gaming. As nostalgic as I am for said era, it’s fitting that it should fizzle out with something so stupid.
Yeah, the BD community is... rough, to put it kindly. I tried to get a writing job with them a few years back, but I’m kind of glad I didn’t, since I take that sort of thing to heart too easily.
