It seems like movies where a director is actually allowed to develop their singular vision (See Mad Max, inception et al) are the ones we remember and are the most entertaining.

I also think this summer’s film fatigue is a sign that filmgoers are tired of all of the sizzle but no steak type films. Maybe this will force film makers to make more well-rounded films?

I liked STB more than ST09 (STIDerpness is but a wild, fevered nightmare to me). Yes, the story and villain were meh, but the crew dynamics, the family feel was perfect. I’m actually looking forward to the next film. It left me hopeful rather than disgusted (like the nightmare).
