Yeah, I was thinking about the Shah. We could have had a relatively progressive ally in the middle east but ended up with the current regime. The WMDs were obvious, but I didn’t know about the deal we had with Saddam during the first Iraq war.

No one is saying that Iran isn’t a bad actor, cause it is, but what pisses me off is that the Nuclear Deal was meant to help curtail some of their worst tendencies - like, oh I don’t know, making nuclear bombs- but that got thrown out and we made them even worse.

That’s what I fucking hate - yeah they did good by going into the military when they didn’t have to, but that does not mean we should put them on such a high pedestal. So many don’t want it, other’s like the attention, and far too many use it as a shield to get away with shit like this.
