Good on Riot for banning this guy, and I hadn’t even heard of him until today.
Good on Riot for banning this guy, and I hadn’t even heard of him until today.
An actual interaction I had once playing Halo 3.
“I feel” is nowhere near as dangerous a phrase as “I believe.” Society absolves all kinds of injustices because of somebody’s beliefs. Case-in-point: defunding Planned Parenthood, exemption from birth control and contraception coverage under the AHCA, and denying services to homosexuals are all rooted in arguments…
It’s on my wishlist, but unfortunately no.
Sure, but those moments of disappointment would come at the worst possible time.
“Okay, all I need to do is roll a 2. I have a 119/120 chance of passing this check.”
It’s only smug if you’re using this as an opportunity to make yourself look more intelligent. Not getting that vibe from you.
So, I’m a man, so I don’t have to worry about having painfully large breasts, but let me try to put myself in an analogy that might be roughly equivalent.
No I do, I sound like an asshole.
Agreed on both counts.
Lengthy, yes. Complexity often demands a lengthy explanation, and this isn’t as simple as “White comic book nerds are just all racist and that’s the way it is.”
As I understand it:
It’s because they live at an uncomfortable intersection of cluelessness and resistance to change.
While I should be satisfied that this monster is getting at least some sense of comeuppance, I can’t help but rage instead. Here are the thoughts going through my head.
I can concede that, however inelegantly stated, Cargill actually does have a point, and I do think that they tried by casting a woman. But that doesn’t erase the fact that they missed a big opportunity to make a bold step towards diversity by hiring a Black or Asian actor to play Doctor Strange himself.
It did kind of fly under the radar, and there’s been no news on it since last fall, but it is supposed to happen.
If a woman performs a work of art directed specifically at her rapist, and one guy gets all twisted up about it, isn’t he tacitly confessing the crime and thus should be subject to appropriate law enforcement action?
Do you really think they’re hiring WOMEN to talk about GUNS? Why, that’s what the menfolk are there for! The women just need to look pretty, smile, and tell Bubba how sexy he is with that AR-15 slung across his chest in the ready position.
Nah, it’s okay if a woman can form complete sentences and be able to enunciate. Now, if she starts getting these crazy ideas in her head about having independence and being able to vote, then she’s gonna have to be straightened out.
Like I said in another thread: they think that by specifying that the woman must be able to “speak intelligently,” they’ve eliminated all other candidates by default.
