I’m cautiously optimistic about this. I hated Season 3 and was extremely bitter about it for a while, but the movie helped fix some of that by being nowhere near as terrible, and, as you say, quite fine! I enjoyed it!

Unfortunately, that’s not much of an exaggeration re: how law enforcement often handles women attempting to report an assault, so... It may be heavy-handed, but it’s not really inaccurate.

This is my favorite rant you’ve ever written.

THANK YOU.

I’m not sure how Hershey’s qualifies as actual chocolate anymore,

Two movies for $10 every double feature night!

Talking the butterfly-type fireworks, only twice in my life. Which figures because (a) I’ve liked/been seriously attracted to very few men in my life, and (b) I’ve only been seriously invested in two of them. Which are/were these two.

I feel it all matters heavily on how good a thong it is, like most garments that should be designed first and foremost for comfort, and just doing what the fuck they’re designed to do. Case in point: most cheap thongs suck, and would cause me to swear off ever wearing them again, usually for at least a few (sometimes

Yeah, I really had a hard time with the seeming “lesson” at the end: hey, maybe everyone is secretly sort of if not really cool, and there are no genuine assholes!

Sapphire > diamond, forever.

Yeah, I just didn’t get much out of this one. And as an introverted nerd who was probably way too in love with school and didn’t do much at all socially in high school — call it being a late bloomer if you want — I sort of expected to see at least something familiar to me or my feelings or experiences in it. But...

To New York, from Los Angeles. So, about 2,500 miles?

I know I’m like, never around anymore and I don’t think anyone even noticed, but wtf! I’m glad you’ve got a new (and still recognizable) account now! Uncool about the banning though, seriously, wtf.

It’s incredibly ‘80s (and yes, definitely rather unrealistic, if only because the conductor blows through so many stops at the end), but I always thought the “Love On a Real Train” scene in Risky Business was uniquely erotic (and beautifully scored).

Forgive the random thread jumping in here, days later, but I just caught this little aside and — speaking as a former dancer and a big fan of Fosse, who’s stored up all the episodes of Fosse/Verdon but has yet to dip her toes in to really watch -- this was very reassuring to read, and I finally feel ready to give it a

Heh, agreed!

I still remember that, and how bummed I was to miss it! I really hope they’ll screen the full cut again one of these days... I’m a the New Bev a lot, and a couple of friends of mine even work there. Fingers crossed.

I’ll never understand it myself, and the body of a cousin of mine on the Swiss side of my family is entombed somewhere up there.

There are photos of the original from the ‘60s on Alison’s blog (she’s the one who runs the Vintage LA Facebook and Instagram pages) here.

I know that page (and the woman who runs it)! I was glad she was able to go around more than I was and capture most of it. And that the huge murals they painted for the Aquarius club down on Argyle and Sunset are still there (have you noticed the fake movie tie-in posters appearing on the wall below, recently?).
