I just argued in another comment that it might be to force people to buy higher trims, because they just want that one option that only comes in the higher trims. But you are probably right as well. From a marketing point it definitely makes sense to let the people show off their expensive trim levels.

I don’t think so. These vehicles are all produced on a single line and variables are handled on demand. There is no “today we build red vehicles with leather seats” anymore.

I am German, too. And honestly I don’t get it either. I never stayed in the US long enough to even think about buying a car. But I’d definitely custom order one, too.

I don’t even get why there even are trim levels. Why not just select the options you want, order the car and be done with it. The dealer can do that, too. Why do I have to have the leather seats, when I want an 8 inch display?

Semi truck diesels are actually a lot cleaner than car diesels. The Fiat 500L diesel emits about 3 times as much NOx as a large semi truck. And there are many more cars on the road than semi trucks.

I’d say those loans are the biggest part of the problem. Since it’s so cheap to buy cars, everyone wants one. So at some point everyone has a car and since people are buying more and more expensive ones, the amount of time they will have to own them, to pay back their loans, will have to increase. And we can see that…

The Ford Performance package comes with factory warranty, you can’t have that with the BRZ turbo kit.

Because there is no place to go. If you have 34 refueling stations to choose from in the US, with 31 in California and 18 of those in the LA area, there isn’t lot’s of places you could actually go.

Well, there are some special bonuses, but they aren’t that hard to get.
