Can I buy borrow yours when you’re done with it? I need to finish my application!

It may sound like a cop-out, but I take a perverse comfort in the fact that we humans are so outrageously out of our depth.

If Ford Marketing knows what’s good for them, $kay is at the top of the list. So really, all you have to do is convince her to marry you, and then convince her to let you drive it.

This also applies on the personal level. When we’re young, we believe we’re invulnerable and take all kinds of silly risks. When we’re old, we’re fearful of everyday hazards and become much more risk-averse.

I like this conversation very much.

To me, it’s sort of pointless. Without the human element to connect with (as you say), it’s just machinery orbiting a track. We’re stone age critters deep down, who only really understand things in terms of how they relate to ourselves. If no human is involved, we can’t relate, so we don’t care.

Yes. Good luck!

You crazy man!

It’s a tricky line. Motorsport in the 50s, 60s, 70s and even 80s was undeniably exciting, in large part because courageous (or foolhardy) heroes were taking frankly terrible machinery to the limits of what was possible (and often beyond).

Jay Leno and current Simpsons. That’s a recipe for, well...

Yes!

And I can completely understand you feeling that way. The sport has become very cynical and inauthentic.

I think then you get allotted two GTs.

Most car fanatics are a bit of twats, myself included. Sorry, can’t escape it completely.

I own this GT owner

Yeah, it can easily come across like special pleading on behalf of the “heroes” at the expense of the “zeros.” But part of what makes F1 exciting (during those infrequent but magical times when it is exciting) is the knowledge that the drivers are out there on the ragged edge and doing everything they can to win.

And don’t forget Schumacher trying to take Villeneuve off in Jerez in 1997 (ending his own race embarrassingly and getting disqualified from the championship).

I don’t really agree with you just on the principal that it makes the technology less user friendly.

Just did an actual spit take! Good stuff!
