Okay so after watching the clip the racism thing does kind of make sense. In the sense that it's just this patronizing, offensive stereotype… Although at the same time it also kind of seems like this was part of some kind of archetypal Southern mythology that Disney wanted to Disneyfy and exploit for some odd reason.

And while I'm at it, throw in a loaf of Home Pride Butter Top. And trips to the Sweetheart Bakery store. They disappeared all of a sudden. Thanks a lot, Hostess.

Oh, and another one. Recently dug out my beloved VHS of The Wizard of Speed and Time. Can't believe it was actually my SECOND copy of the film. I have no idea where I found the original copy (I think I bought it used from a video store). It slowly disintegrated and by some miracle I found another copy at a pawn shop

Also, does anyone know if Pather Panchali or the Apu Trilogy is ever going to get re-released? I found a torrent of them years ago but I've been holding out to watch them in a more decent quality.

I seem to remember watching it as a kid, but for years everyone online has talked about how racist it was. I missed the racism as a child, but what was so racist about it? Songs about Hawaiian Punch?

From time to time I think back and remember watching Talk Soup (aka The Soup) hosted by John Henson every day of summer vacation in middle/high school. Would love to be able to see those again. My best friend and I would always make sure to be home at 3:00 or whenever it came on, and they actually showed it every day

Seriously. Don't say "Jeremy Irons" and "The Simpsons" in the headline unless it's about that. I have no idea what a "bar rag" even is.

All the great Jeremy Irons fantasy films. Dungeons and Dragons (of course), then there's Eragon. And who could forget Dungeons and Dragons?

Android. Angel. A Hero.

I was going to comment something like:

After listening to "Nothing is Wrong" a couple of times I went and decided to check it out on Pitchfork. I was terrified to do this because you never can tell when they are going to eviscerate something you like… But then they weren't even listed, which made them (Dawes) about four times cooler than before.

Still remember my first listen to Francis(es?) the Mute. Thirty seconds into it I'm thinking, "Oh HAIL yeah! This rocks! This is some cool prog rock music that doesn't sound like Dream Theater shlock!! YES!! I'm gonna love this band!"

Okay, so here goes:

Workin' on it.

And what's the deal with Noah's Ark?! You're telling me he had two rhinos on there along with two platypuses?! No rhino I know would abide being in the same room as a platypus! Bible, shmible!

If you want a Rollerball-esque movie that you can enjoy again and again, give FutureSport a try. There was a period for two years where they showed it almost every Sunday on my local TV station in Montana. The best after-church movie ever.

Has AV Club done an inventory of non-Christmas Christmas movies? Brazil and Die Hard (and Gremlins) are my faves, but what is this Father Christmas cut you speak of? Is it real?

I have nobody to blame but myself for doing this, but a couple months back the Mrs. and I thought it would be good fun to rent some kind of eye-candy with beautiful vistas (mostly I just wanted to try out my new blu-ray player). And so we decided on Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides. Sure, part 2 was

Didn't they get Tom Cruise for that, too? I was quite shocked when I saw them on screen and it really was them!

You are actually directly quoting the minutes from the meeting, aren't you?
