There some whitewashing in the show. Ros (the prostitute from Winterfell who goes to King's Landing) is a new character for the show who took the place of two WOC. The show's eliminated some of the other POC as well and it's doubtful whether they'll add them into the story at this point.

Essos, the continent Daenery is in, is multi-ethnic. The disappointing aspect of the show was having the slaves and slavers almost all brown people. It's not so white washed. The later seasons will have more POC I think (and hope). Westeros is mostly white, Essos isn't, and the later books feature that area more, and characters from there.

Well, a number of POC character have been removed in the show. But honestly, they do have a better track record than other counter parts. In the later books lots of POC, even in central roles. But the gimmick by HBO is fucking tone deaf.
