I thought they did an amazing job. Some parts were cut out, but considering that the whole book was the boy’s train of thought, it would be hard to translate a lot to screen. It was the mother’s story, so it makes sense that it was all about her. It was just her story as seen through his eyes.

Oh, it is nothing as treacly as that. The viewer always knows exactly what’s going on, and nothing is glossed over. For example (spoilers), some days the boy’s mother is too depressed to get out of bed. To him, he doesn’t know it’s not normal, so he just goes about his business. He’s locked away into a wardrobe

Did you read the book? The movie is done the same way, where everything is seen through the young boy’s eyes. She protected him from anything traumatic, so it’s just referenced as to shown. I think the subject matter was handled very respectfully and appropriately. It was sad and horrific, to be sure, but nothing was

Or it could be that those movies just aren’t that good, and certainly aren’t original. I saw Room this weekend (Rotten Tomatoes rating: 96%), after waiting weeks for it to hit my theatre, and it was sold out of the few showings that were available. The theatre obviously didn’t think it was going to do that well, but

The fact that her father is still trying to profit off her with this is enough for me to want to boycott the film. I will always remember the footage in the documentary where she’s taken a couple months off to try to get healthy, get out of the public eye, and recharge, and he shows up with a film crew to film her for

Up next: the book deal. Maybe to be turned into a movie.

Yeah, I’m hesitant to support a denouncement of social media made on social media and accompanied by a request for free money.

Is this the woman who has since posted a video asking for donations for her loving expenses because she doesn’t have any other source of income?

They do exist, trust me! I’m married to one. The ones that don’t act that way only do it because they’re enabled to.

This is why living together before marriage is such a great test. If my then-boyfriend had expected me to do all the work, or even a majority of it, we would not still be together. I can’t for the life of me understand why a woman who works as many hours as her partner would ever put up with this sort of scenario

I want humans to have to answer for what we’ve done to animals like these.

Why are there so many teen parents in this utopia? Wouldn’t it be more ideal if birth control was treated more like any other preventative medicine?

If you think those are compliments, please do us all a favour and remove yourself from civilization.

I’ve read this theory in other places as well, but don’t know if I buy it. Male animals from many species kill existing babies when they come to power. It seems to be something instinctively known.

Let’s just hope none of the hosts need to visit a hospital any time soon...

I want to use this excuse in my life.

I wish this were true, but think how many young impressionable girls have been brainwashed in the last couple decades to view him as the perfect godly man?

Who wants to place bets that Josh is living with some other woman?

Trust me, I firmly believe that is the actual reason; I just wonder how it’s justified and presented in a palatable way.
