When I got my first cat (a bengal, which is a very active breed), I'd get up half an hour earlier every day to play so she wouldn't be bored and lonely for 16 hours straight. Then I got a second one, since that seemed ever better. They chase each other non-stop, and I still play with them throughout the evening. I

If I could edit my post I would probably add the exception of farm cats, since clearing barns and/or fields of vermin is what caused cats to domesticate in the first place. However, even then, it depends on the area. I drive down a highway next to a lot of farmland, and regularly see cats that have been run over.

That's like saying humans who watch TV are unhappy they're not in war zones or working in police departments. My cats like to look outside the windows and the front door, but whenever anyone opens the door (or even walks towards it), they run away. They have no actual desire to go outside.

That kind of seems like the whole 'enclosed area' idea. If the cats actually aren't roaming off, then they can't do any damage. They're still at risk for disease and parasites, though, as well as other animals.

Ugh. There shouldn't be a discussion. Don't get a pet if you can't take care of it properly. That means, for a cat, buying proper food, NOT declawing it, and never letting it outside unless it's in an enclosed area or on a leash. It is still possible to have healthy, happy cats that don't get to roam and kill

It seems insane to let food go to waste like that. Is there no way for them to allow workers at a soup kitchen (or whatever they're called) to come in and harvest what they can? I'm sure the security at the white house hasn't been removed, so they can be under watch the whole time.

Since people are delaying (or not bothering with) marriage more and more, you would think there would be more sympathy for when long-term relationships break up. It really is the same as divorce.

Satire and Irony- the scourge of uninformed writers everywhere.

Probably because the money behind factory farms has been trying to get rid of mandatory external instructions for years.

I don't believe anyone should be fired for them, but personally I hope to never have the world at large see my naked body.

I excitedly announced her win to my (fellow Canadian) coworkers this morning as soon as I got in, and was greeted with a bunch of blank looks. It made me sad for the state of society.

I had that book ordered within 45 seconds of hearing about it. I can't get enough information about this woman!

Is there any question?

I got married in June this year. We did it as simple as possible. Total cost was less than $4k for 80 people (I've got a huge family). Basically, I took out EVERYTHING that didn't have any personal meaning to me- fancy dress, dance, fancy meal, drinks, photographer, DJ, church, etc, etc, etc. My goal was to make

I totally understand that, but it seems ridiculous to try to drag it out for months, as if anything related to being a bride automatically confers some magic happy status.

I put in a similar comment. I don't get it either.

That's a really interesting thought. Society only cares about you as long as you spend all available income.

Ugh. I get being excited to be married, but there is no reason why it has to be the happiest day of your life, and therefore no need to try to stretch it out for months! Was your fiance's commitment to you not just as strong the day before? Can you no longer have fun days with friends and family afterwards? Are

I think that might be a difference right there- I'm Canadian, not American, and I don't think anyone knows or cares what a real 'Canadian' is.

That's the main reason I'm fanatic about sun protection (on the before-mentioned trip to Hawaii I bought the strongest sunscreen on the market that I could find, wore gauzy shirts on top of everything, and used a parasol whenever I was in the direct sunlight. I went home without so much as a tanline.)- I'm extremely
