But, smoothies are pretty good sometimes...

I was wondering what you meant by controller vs. media. The tivo boxes do both. And a lot cheaper than it would have been with any of the old stuff you’ve mentioned.

I don’t understand - what are you saying is special about media? And what does a Commodore 64 have to do with HD tv? What else will work in a multi-tv setup with a single unit doing the tuning/recording and cheaper units at all the other tvs able to play live or recorded tv over the network? I have a (rented) cable

I’m sure you can tell your vhs box to record all new (only) episodes of a show for you and have it pick up next season when the times or maybe even channel have changed. Also, networking isn’t easy. There are only a few systems that let you record on one box and play back from other, lower cost boxes. Tivo also

Recording and the ability to skip commercials is what you are paying for. Tivo is the original (and best) DVR. And you can add additional tivo-mini devices so you can play the recordings on TVs in other rooms.

Over a long period of time that kind-of works out, but for something like a half-hour wait at the bar to be seated for dinner the cycles never match up again.

Good idea, but it usually doesn’t work out when everyone else is more interested in drinking than you. It just doesn’t come naturally to me to offer to buy drinks for others, but I don’t want to appear cheap either.

When you are approaching the time you should stop you may not have the best judgement. That is, when people see that 3 drinks make them feel good, they think 6 will be twice as nice. But, perhaps depending on the time span, it rarely is.

So what is the proper etiquette when a group is buying drinks and you are drinking slower than the others? When it is your turn to buy, do you say you aren’t ready, get one for yourself anyway, or get something non-alcoholic?

Not news: old stuff breaks a lot.

Nothing has changed since Will Rodgers said “I don’t belong to an organized political party - I’m a Democrat”.

I’d say that the other way around - that is, living in New York is not worth it for a car owner (otherwise known as a normal person).

So if someone drives something flashy, fast, or expensive it is safe to assume they are compensating for something?

Unless you buy your gas at Costco - they don’t have trash cans or even anything to wash your windshield. It’s “just gas”.

Of course it will happen if Bernie supporters decide to let Trump win. Votes do count. Remember Ralph Nader?

Yes, it is really easier to eat less if you stick to the same boring stuff. If I have something different or exceptionally good I want to eat more of it. You need a few nice dinners of course, but really who even remembers what they had for lunch a couple of days ago?

Didn’t everyone sign up for a hotmail account before Microsoft bought them and when it was one of the only free email accounts that worked? The account is probably still there and working as a Microsoft account now.

I think you are supposed to run the dishwasher before stuff dries on the dishes. I rarely do that, so I rinse the worse cruft off.

I know - I’ve had 3 Corolla’s - two of which my sons are still driving. But I also have a 2002 Honda Odyssey that’s getting close to 200k miles with only a few replacement parts. And I think recent Hyundai models (2011+) are at least a match in quality.

Any Honda hybrid isn’t mainstream. The prius is probably the only thing that makes sense of the concept and I wouldn’t even trust them to last beyond 10 years or so. I’ve had both Hondas and Toyotas last well over that with minimal breakage.
