It always struck me as weird that 'baby comes out of the tummy' is fine, because...it's a lie? I'm not sure. I think our culture often conflates ignorance and innocence and deifies innocence.

I don't think you can just switch comedy and religion and make a relevant point.... Also yeah, things that are funny or offensive change between cultures. Pro comedians have to sensitive to that and change their jokes when traveling. Smart comedians don't just choose 12 jokes and tell those regardless of audience.
