If you buy an E30 318 or 318IS, while a great engine, they do have one serious weakness, you need to immediately drop the lower half of the oil pan and check the oil pickup tube mounting bolts. Many people have pulled theirs to find bolts laying in the pan or at the very least, extremely loose.
