I think you should try. If she loved her job, she is probably still there. I bet you can describe her well enough, and I bet she remembers your mom. No one would make fun of you for trying to locate her, even after this time has gone by..
No kidding. United didn’t accept my Continental miles either, the buggers.
I freeze sage leaves in batches of 20, to pull out later and cut up and make a brown butter sage sauce. The frozen leaves last several months (depending on the quality of your freezer, I think - we recently upgraded to a better freezer, and I’m seeing much less freezer burn on things).
There is a trend for seas to be warmer, so that when tropical storms form, they pick up (more) energy (than they would have) and they are more likely to transition to “hurricane” or “major hurricane”. NOAA takes data on Accumulated Cyclonic energy, which depends on size of the storm and length of time of sustained…
I totally agree with everything you’re saying here. I thought about bringing up the disparity in how men often pose a danger to women, and that would lead to awkwardness if a strange man points out something about a woman’s attire, but that the reverse isn’t true (a woman can probably point out something about a man’s…
Is there any data to back up the 99% assertion? I ask this seriously, not scornfully.
I’m with IndianaJoan....if none of my friends (of any gender) were around to tell me about a possible wardrobe malfunction (maybe of the cheap material combined with bright lighting kind), then I would like it more if a random woman told me, than a random man (I’m a woman).
This was a really nice way to handle it.
I prefer “guys” myself (responding to your comment to thisbecausethat), and agree that the woman being offended by being called one of the guys is in the minority. Gal is not a perfect fit, but if “guy” is not available, then I would prefer “gal” to “girl”.
Why do you assume their story is made-up? It is statistically likely to be *not* made up.
I would say “gal” is better than “girl”. I think “girl” says that you’re looking down on a person, but “gal” doesn’t, necessarily.
I think Herve’s point is that for most of her life, CJ had white male privilege; that has resulted in ingrained privileged thinking that would be hard to shift, even if CJ wanted to shift the way she thinks.
that is so sad
totally agree with you. This new exec order will exacerbate the problem though.
YES! I came here to say this. Some of the men tried, but most didn’t. I want them to show some appreciation for the event. Also, you all should get offa my lawn. :)
Totally agree. After ignoring some proportion of parental messages, kid’s phone will get disabled with Verizon. Once the kid knows this, they will become much more responsive.
When the kid is scared, the poop retreats back inside.
Seriously, I hate the auto-flushers. I carry small post-it notes with me, and have given them out to other parents. Half of the auto-flushers are calibrated so badly (or they’re in a tiny stall so that you can’t help but set them off) that they waste more water than the toilets that they replaced.
I think it’s not useful for WOC and Women not of color to snipe at each other over who is doing the most work to improve the situation for all of us.
