I get the sentiment, but Russia and other states have now seen how cheaply & easily they can influence our elections. It seems unlikely there won't be another attempt in 2018 and 2020. Probably a worthwhile line of inquiry for investigative journalism.

You're not trying to understand them, then. Expand healthcare access; reduce inequality; protect the environment. These are real things that affect people and she made it clear where she stood on them.

Yup. She had a platform to the left of Obama and no one wanted to hear it. Example: CNN running a live feed of Trump's empty podium before a rally while Hillary gave an economic speech.

You're supposed to ignore the fact that, for example, Pelosi and other Dems expanded health insurance to millions and Hillary/Bernie ran on continuing that trend. Both parties are bad!!

I think that's what the comment meant?

I love the AV Club, but it's so far from what anyone considers "press" when discussing 2016 and the current administration that I don't think it's worth worrying about.

Rey's more likable and interesting than Luke at first introduction. Saying no to all the portions offered for BB-8 and scratching off a sad, lonely existence are a far cry from our whiny introduction to Luke (and this is coming from someone who grew up with that character and had action figures etc etc.)

That ignores the difference between a statement when it comes from a hacky comedian and when it's coming from someone holding the most powerful office in the world.

One of the many depressing factoids that came out post-election was that the Secret Service essentially ignored the "second amendment people" comment.

Too real. Followed closely by the ones claiming all the bars around them only keep hop bombs on draft. Damn hipsters!!!

Flying Dog's Fever Dream yesterday — not a big fan of heat in alcohol, but it's got juuuust a touch of mango and habanero and is perfect.

Yup. I've walked by three or four times in the past week and the line is never less than a couple of hundred people long.

Counterpoint: people drink them because they're good.

Most of their shows come back yearly pretty much on the dot. I think there's an argument to be made that stuff like Orange is the New Black would get more media attention if it was released weekly for 3 months, and I prefer it too, but Netflixp prolly has data that leads them to think their customers are satisfied

Her resume includes E.T., Jurassic Park, and Lincoln. People want to work with her.

The article reads more like they're getting the film on track, and Last Jedi sounded like a smooth shoot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the article is arguing that they were hired to bring some of that style to the franchise, but were unable to adjust that to a feature of this budget/size, which was assumed because it's a huge blockbuster and that's part of the gig.

It's interesting. One of the stories from last week pointed to tension coming from Han's character being turned into a comedic figure, whereas to Kasdan he's sarcastic and biting rather than someone cracking jokes. I could see some of the conflict coming from those viewpoints.

As the article says — it was a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. If Kennedy fired them earlier, she'd be accused to not giving the directors a chance. She apparently tried to make it work and is now accused of not wanting to try something new ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you. It's weird to look at people of all ages devouring 700 pages books as sign of some decline.
