Counterpoint: Veep stumbled this season but it still really good.

This is fair. I'm pro-Mandel because season five is one of my favorites, but the writing seemed unable to find a plot this season. It would be nice if next year was the last and that allowed them a bit more opportunity and focus than this year.

Unfortunately, people probably watched Iron Fist.

There might be shows that are technically better, but I find that the characters from Mad Men (well, a lot of them) are so well-written that they stay with you… their choices, their struggles, their hopes. Long after the show is finished.

Fair point, but there's a difference between improv-ing some lines here and there and changing a character's personality from what's on the page, which is what Kasdan apparently had an issue with.

+1 — I like Lord & Miller a lot but the knee-jerk reaction to be angry seems weird. Kasdan brings a lot to the table, so if he's concerned about the character not being portrayed in a certain way, that seems worth listening to.

The Hollywood Reporter (I think?) piece yesterday made filming sound so improv-heavy that Kasdan got upset they'd changed Han's personality. I'd also love to see their version but am also not shocked that this brought up conflict.

I haven't read much of the old canon stuff, but the newer Leia book (Bloodline) set a few years before Force Awakens was pretty good. Basically her grappling with the Vader legacy and the baddies rising again.
