Yep, he's the one that suggested this site to me after The AVClub just got so bad that there's no point to it anymore
Then hopefully I'll see you around on some other Disqus domain then :)
I'm really on the fence, I guess if The AVClub keeps the comicbook discussions going each week I'll eventually do it, otherwise there's really no point what with the website now basically being trash without the good community behind it
Hey, Thank you too! :D
Haven't been around for a while because I discovered that the outside world exists this summer, but I did miss you all! And now Kinja (shudder) has already happened… Did everybody leave around here? I still haven't gotten around to setting up Kinja, is it even worth it? The comment sections…
I re-binged the whole show not so long ago and it's truly fantastic, probably the best superhero show out there, animated or otherwise.
I chuckled at the first one having the balls to have a scene where two apes talked via sign language, with subtitles, in a blockbuster
Pretty sure that's the 2nd one you're thinking of
It was more an online article than the marketing I believe, but sure, I might have exaggerated a bit, the point was that it influenced SW, Star Trek and so many others
Yeah, I'm loving them, and apparently they are even better quality than the Masterworks, with better coloring work
No, I honestly didn't even know them even though I grew up on french comics… apparently it's the basis for most modern science-fiction and really worth checking out
Marvel reprinted big parts of the Lee/Ditko Spider-Man in their Epic Collections, and they are really cheap for the amount of pages, you might want to check those out
There's one little moment in ASM that I thought was pretty great, which was when Spidey is in the sewers and he puts out his Spider-webs everywhere and sits on it to feel the vibrations when the Lizard is coming, you know, like actual spiders do? It's a neat little element in an otherwise very unimaginative movie
Asterix and Tintin which are just as awesome to read now as back then.
…and the Donald Duck pocket books which are hugely popular here in Europe. With the insane amount of those comics that get pumped out they are obviously hit and miss, but when they hit they are hilarious
I really have to find some Gwenpool trades, this is yet another thing about Gwenpool that totally makes me want to check it out, despite that stupid name
Not the biggest Spidey fan… I've loved Kraven's last Hunt and the Superior Spider-Man run, though those are the least "Spider-Maney" stories
Yeah, the character work in UXF is great. However, I was a little bothered by how thoroughly unlikable Wolverine ended up being, even though he deserves all the flack he got
Uncanny X-Force by Remender Vol 2 - Great conclusion to an all-around fantastic comic-book story.
I was really surprised at how "comicbooky" this story is, given the premise I figured they would go for some more grounded black-ops missions, but surprisingly they go all out with parallel dimensions, different versions…
The end of Omega Men is certainly one of the most memorable and dark meta moments I ever saw in comics…
I'm also a sucker for a lot of Deadpool meta humor, particularly of his Kelly and Duggan/Poseehn runs
I mean, you'll probably enjoy it well enough so just go and keep the streak alive, but maybe don't go if it means skipping War of the Planet of the Apes?
Or Big Sick, though personally I don't care for going to the theater if there's no spectacle involved, I'd rather wait and watch comedies/dramas on the small screen…
Sure, many are interested in this to establish some advantage in their pissing matches, but it's interesting to check it out to see the general audience trends that will influence the Hollywood trends.
Plus, if movies you like are successful, you'll probably get sequels or more movies from the same creative teams
I can't tell if this article's snark is directed at the decision to remove this or at the fact that this existed.
It would be a nice change if for once they were actually against yet another silly and ill-founded over-reaction
