Man, I wonder what they’d make of Matsumoto’s *R100* which contains non-consensual BDSM involving children, played largely for laughs.

You have a stronger will than me. I broke up with a republican in high school, but only after we’d gotten into a fender bender arguing over whether Reagan’s Star Wars missle defense system was or wasn’t a provocation to war.

DTMFA

*sigh* Now I miss Boondocks (s1-3, obv)

Would someone call the MacArthur Genius people and get Hertzfeldt one of those grants, already?

I didn’t consider A Beautiful Day depressing, ultimately, but it DOES get rather bleak at times... But World of Tomorrow, while certainly not free of serious, concerning thoughts, is ultimately questioning in a curious rather than a desperate manner. And it, as most of Hertzfeldt’s films, has a weird charm and humor

Maybe whoever ends up in charge of Cinefamily can ask the folks at Fantastic Fest for some pointers on how to (and how NOT to) get through this sort of thing.

Too soon

“In the butt, Bob...”

Sure, but these days upperclass douche-bros are claiming solidarity with the ‘real people’ who aren’t the ‘liberal elite’. They cloak themselves in victimhood and whine about abortion or religious freedom because they know their $$$ means they won’t actually have to worry about the new rules they enact. Those are for

That’s just as facile (and just as wrong) as 4chan dickheads claiming “We’re not racist. We just say that stuff for the lulz.”

I’m pretty sure you understand it perfectly. Spite. All other team points must be revoked. Esp. if that black guy scored ‘em.

Any film with a text by Millar is guaranteed to be “What if the protagonist was one of those douche-bro fratboys that used to be the villans in 70's and 80's movies?”

Oh! So sorry. She should absolutely alter her eating habits and lifestyle so you might find her more aesthetically pleasing on the rare occasion she crosses your mind, because clearly, nothing she has done or said is more important than “Can I still whack it to her?”

your comment is bad and you should feel bad.

Part of it is actually consistent. The Lego Movie was set in Bricksburg, the city that dad Will Farrell wanted to set permanently with crazy glue. The Lego Movie was that, played out as it would have been to the minifigs (Emmet, Wild Style, etc). So everything in that universe is brick.

depending on how it’s rolled it might be just the shell of a cigar stuffed with weed, or it might be weed mixed w/ tobacco, in which case you might or might not be able to tell it from the other tobacco / non-pot smoking going on....

As both a gawkerX reader and a long time AVClub reader, I can tell you it bugs me too. Since Univision became the big boss, AVClub has seen gradually more and more actual ‘news’ or at least news-like content. But at least the differing systems and layout kept them distinct.

I happened to move away fro LA after 5 years and reluctantly cancelled my membership at the end of last year. That place was my 2nd home and the source of a huge portion of my great memories in LA.
