the problem is that most accident avoidance maneuvers ARE ILLEGAL by the letter of the law. if a collision happens in front of my car on a highway and I stop, flip on my emergencies, and rush out to help the people involved in the crash technically I have broken the law because I stopped in a no stopping zone.

It does show the hypocrisy of the republican party though. They are all STATES RIGHTS until California wants different emissions standards or a mask mandate. But if a state wants to enforce their own abortion laws (in spite of federal law) like Texas, states rights are great.

Just need to know the guys in the Black Hats.

(worth noting that this all works better if you have a barn)

If you can afford to pay off a car in 12 months with only a couple grand down, you can afford to buy it outright. Maybe the solution is to have bigger vehicles that can carry more people in one go through the tunnel. If it’s really high volume, maybe link the larger vehicles together in a chain so that they all travel at once all at the same speed.

Aw man. I remember Jalopnik’s original story (2021? Jeez the year really was longer than I realized). Tragic that he didn’t make it to the transplant, but I’m happy that he had optimism and a new (honestly really fucking weird) place to belong in the final months of his life. RIP, Gary. And, uh, Gobbless, I guess.

Im in at 40k but I fear Im going to want the 80k+ variant

After 20+ years in education, I have learned never to underestimate the stupidity of people.

Thank you Torch for this wonderful trivia that I can annoy my spouse and kids with.

I’d like to have a word with her, too.

And of course, the local news will run a feature on this. People tune out most commercials but pay attention to the local features.

Those who can reanimate vaguely car-shaped forest floor detritus, and create from them, functioning transportation devices once again.”

^Adding to my résumé.

Yeah, give the PR guy a raise. This was probably cheaper than buying a TV ad and I’m sure will sway a lot more buyers to shop at their dealership instead.

I know car restoration. I feel fairly competent at engine repair.

Let’s not kid ourselves that this isn’t (at least in large part) an opportunity for good PR for Frank Kent MC.

Still, motives aside, good on them for stepping in to help out.
