I’d really love to see you do a review of your Hiace. I’m from Jamaica, now residing in the US, and I grew up with the Hiace, Nissan E20, the Toyota Coaster and all other “mini bus” vehicles that came there. I covet your Hiace and I have no shame in saying so.

It’s $5k for a reason - no one will touch it.

The one that will get all the internet hate going is the obvious one.

GM J-cars (notably from 1984-1988). Source: My 1984 Cavalier Type 10 CL 2.0 EFI F-41 hatch (the car had a lot of badges), which went over 300k (and still running well when it was sold) with no issues other than rust belt tin-worm, and even in that regard it held up well.

Now, a group of House Democrats have introduced a $547 plan to revamp surface transportation infrastructure...

1st gear: Color me absolutely shocked that after a few years of operating in China, a foreign company with valuable intellectual property has been sufficiently mined of its knowledge and processes that domestic Chinese companies are slowly supplanting them.

You can get a lot of places with good tires, decent ground clearance, and careful driving (and spotting). Not that you should.

The RAV4 is the no-brainer choice. If you don’t care about the styling and only want reliability, fit, and AWD, you’re not going to go wrong with Toyota. Put gas in it, change the oil and tires when needed, and drive for 150k+ miles worry free.

It’s definitely tires.

The good news though is that for the most part, there already is consensus on the standard. J1772 is the standard for L2 plugs and even Tesla provides an adapter for that.

Oh I totally get it. I have everything from a vintage RV through multiple motorcycle engines all the way down to a 3hp B&S engine in my carhold nowadays and when I have a free moment, I will just go down there a wrench for the sole purpose of just wrenching. Every now and then I hit a milestone on one of those

Yeah, 45k-50k would probably be a better number. That being said, people spend over $50k on a pick-up truck, so if we want that kind of stuff to gradually get replaced by more efficient models, maintaining price parity with their “luxurious” ICE counterparts is important too.

2nd Gear:

I’m a tire snob and I always look at the tires. That’s often a giveaway somebody went in over their head just for the badge.

It’s super frustrating that when something breaks the company tells you to just buy a new one. I would much rather fix what I have in most cases than buy a new one.

First Gear: I am SHOCKED to find that a company with a gold presidential seal of endorsement would have financial problems a short time later. /s

To give you an example, living in the heart of the Midwest in Iowa the radio station that reigns supreme is 1040 WHO. Not for cooky reasons like the ones that previous comments suggest. No, its because of The Big Show. A show dedicated to ag-related talk in the middle of the day that features latest trends, prices,

Rural AM radio? Yes, many things. Mostly the fact that it’s a bunch of ill-informed, angry, right-wing loons spouting conspiracy theories and other dangerous garbage.

When I was in school (i.e. broke) I had an 87 Toyota pickup with the legendary 22RE, known for its durability, and unfortunately, a single-row timing chain with brittle plastic guides. So when the foreboding death rattle started emanating from the chain housing, it seemed a given that the entire assembly was due for

Congrats on being the only person ever to have a broken A/C system that just needed a refill
