That, and the 5.3 LS engine has kinda always been the 5.3. I never hear anyone call it “the 325". Whereas the 350 was the 350 until it was the 5.7. Just like most people don’t call the 4.6 Ford mod motor the 281. Just imagine barstool bragging about your 281. Yuck.

You want to live in hell? Work on American cars from the mid-80s to early 2000s when you had to employ both metric and SAE tools for the simplest of jobs. It seemed like they just randomly-chose where they’d use a 15mm instead of a 9/16" or vice-versa.

Even worse. I think my ATV has like a 336 CC engine and it’s marketed as a 400. I’ve been duped!!!!

I guess it’s different levels of pedantic rhetoric depending on “actual rounding rules” vs racing classes. I think Ford just thought 5.0 was better marketing than 4.9. I can’t argue.

Oooh. That’s right. I forgot about the venerable durable 4.9 I-6.

SHIIIYIIIT!! HMU!!

I mean, I could have went on-and-on-and-on but those were just the ones I most commonly think of. 327s handn’t been produced for quite a while at the time I was wrenching and I don’t recall seeing a car where it had a 327 under the hood but “5.3" on the vehicle emissions tag.

Fair point. It is the song that made the Fox body legendary.

And you would be correct! It only took Ford 30 years to get that extra 35 ccs!

I can see making a 1998 CC engine 2.0 but not rounding 4947 CCs to 5.0 liters.

And 62 MPH = 100KMH: Coincidence??? (probably)

Cool! Reminds me of an old Plymouth pushbutton auto! My dad had one of those.

Yep. Finally an honest 5.0, unlike the old Windsor.

Are you presuming Joe’s shape so you can give him a theoretical body-shaming? Hypothetically harsh bro!.

I love the idea of the Jaguar, just not the reality of the Jaguar.

Or Ford shit, rounding the 4.9 liter 302 V8 to 5.0 liters because.......?

To many of us, “old school” car guys, the figures are interchangable. It’s like being bilingual (or bipolar) 5.7 just auto-translates to 350 in my mind.

Sounds like the game I ran when I was dating..........

They didn’t get the message that we’ve moved on from globalization and can now put ‘murican stuff on cars. If it has what used to be known as a “3.6" liter engine, which is like 216 CI, it can be the Cadillac 216 or if it’s hybrid, the 216H.

You’ve got a 50/50 chance to get it right!
