Marketing to casuals is going to be a lot harder for the Wii U than for the Wii. They made a loss on the U at release and after the price cut even more. The GamePad alone is around 1/3 the production cost of the entire console. So they can't drop the price as far as the Wii could.

Don't know. When the 360 and PS3 were released they had state-of-the-art hardware, which you couldn't match for anywhere near the price. The One and PS4 on the other hand can be matched by a custom build around the price of the One and are blown out of the water by really high-end PCs.
