This has to be the longest Kotaku article ever :D

Their core franchises did the heavy lifting (Warcraft, CoD, Battlefield, etc.) to get them there. Coupled with buying up other companies allows them to become this big. DRM can hurt those franchises but not kill them. They will stay this big, but that doesn't mean they're doing the right thing with this DRM.

This makes a lot of sense. A quick look at the companies that use invasive, annoying-to-the-customer DRM (Ubisoft, EA, Activision Blizzard, TakeTwo, etc.) are all companies that are on the stockmarket, aka they have shareholders. The companies that are independent are all known for their liberal views on DRM/piracy

When will devs/publishers understand that all that we want in DLC is either some fun gameplay (like Magicka did with a mappack putting the four wizards in Vietnam) or an expansion of the storyline (Lair of the Shadowbroker). Anything else is just unethical spam. No more hats, weapons-only-different-in-stats or

That's true.

I was just referring to the line-up, not the memory card issue.

What powerhouse franchises did they have at launch in Japan? Nintendogs? Mario and Zelda, the real powerhouses came much later. PS Vita has Uncharted, which is a big hitter in the West at least.

It was present in the story trailers, but not so much in this gameplay video. Maybe I miss the dark, desaturatedness of the NYC setting. Then again, if I saw gameplay of MP1 or 2 I'd probably miss something as well. One really needs to play something to appreciate its atmosphere. Too bad for the extended wait then.

Because this works so well? If you can't equalize the teams, it'll never be fun.

Why isn't large scale PvP not in seperate Battlegrounds like WoW? That would mean a max number of players and generally equal teams.

And I thought I knew a lot about the 19th century, but this is totally new to me. It's like the world forgot about this, because I've never seen it in movies, games, etc.

Cinematic realism? Not two words I'd normally combine.

Blocking is indeed only one of the possibilities. A black bar on the Kotaku logo or indeed the color change would work just as well at putting out the message that 'the free internet is on strike'.

If you really need, just disable Javascript in your browser. It removes the black screen.

Should've said: sell that good. When you take into consideration that the PS2 over 12 years (with only 4 years of that without any better console opposing it) has sold three times as much as the PS3 over 6 years. When the current gen has reached the same stage as the PS2 (might take longer than 2017 because the PS3

Too bad the explosion effects are from the stone age. The rest is pure gold ofcourse.

While I can't comment on the gameplay of the recent Sony FFs, I would like to comment on their look and atmosphere. The great thing about the NES and SNES FFs were that the technical limitations resulted in the characters and the world around them look stylized and cartoonish. This helped me as a young Western kid,

I grew up on VOY. It was awesome. On an unrelated note, I also love Costner's Waterworld.

Look at 12-year old PS2 hanging on at the end. I'd like to see PS3/Xbox 360 still sell in 2017.

The fan edits make Episode I far more enjoyable (i.e. no Jar Jar Binks). Even in it's vanilla form, it's still the best out of the three prequels. It's more about the story (however bad it might be) than about the action. The setting is also far more believable because most of the sets are real (or at least look real)
