I love baseball, but all your other points stand. I think the success of women’s tennis and lady Olympians shows that if you invest in and promote women athletes, you will see people respond. Everyone knows that saying, “You’ve got to spend money to make money.” The interest is there. Spend the money.

I actually know her! (My parents even attended her swearing in as US Attorney for the Eastern District.) Even more hilariously, there is a former president who was previously governor of the same state whose nickname is Bubba...and he went to Georgetown, Oxford (on a Rhodes Scholarship) and Yale Law. Despite being a Democrat, he's still considered a beloved son of Arkansas.

Thank you! I just updated my post to reflect your brilliance. :) Your point about the talent of girls and women in baseball and the active effort to divert them is really important. Even if it's not likely that a lot of women will make it, most men never make it either. Women deserve a chance to make an impact all

This comment is everything. Baseball especially has a skillset that is based less in strength and power and more in coordination and endurance. There is no reason women can't breach this barrier. I'm working on a post about this and would love to cite your comment. May I?
