Please stop - this is not the correct measure. Everyone is obsessed with this “average car price” number. It’s the wrong number to determine affordability. Affordability = a price which the majority of people can afford. The median price would reflect the price that the majority can afford, and is therefore a better…
If they haven't failed by now, they probably won't in future.
Everyone has a boner over the 850, but the 840 was the superior car in every way except that it didn't have a manual option. They were just as fast/slow and twice as reliable.
Does the phrase “Reserve not met” have any meaning to you?
Blah, blah, reliability, blah. But when Rob Siegel, a writer who makes his living rebuilding some of the most decrepit BMWs (he’s literally written a book on electrical systems) won’t even touch one, there aren’t enough warning flags made for the 850.
A guide for the distinguishing Jalop browsing the internet in hospice care with the intentions of abbreviated car ownership.
Tavarish is like that athletic guy at work who is constantly telling people they should swim to work across the bay because it’s, like, totally easy and quicker than driving. Why do you drive when you can swim?
I recently found myself wishing I’d bought a somewhat shitty 540i for the 3500 that I spent on my pristine 318ti, this kinda made me glad I didn’t.
I wish I could star this more. This entire post is essentially saying “do not believe any of the bad advice Tavarish regularly hands out.” It’s the perfect example of why buying high-mile, maintenance-intensive vehicles “for cheap” is a terrible idea.
This cannot be starred enough. Tavarish will continue to soak up the page views despite all of the “I told you so” comments anyway. Hopefully this at least serves as a warning to broke high schoolers that think they can get “pretty much an M5" for $3k...
Exactly! Thank you! He can try to paint it in a different light but this is the truth.
The Great all-knowing Tavarish, who preached that anyone could fix anything for $15, was finally burned by the even greater M62TU.
As its name suggests, it has a 4.0-liter V8 under its hood for the first time ever.
I do so love manual transmissions, but I'd rather have a good automagic transmission than a terrible manual.
That makes things worse. Not being from the US I’m not familiar with American cars like this one, hence my question.
What is that thing? Something Chinese from the 90s?
We used to do a similar thing with a sled and a 4-wheeler, and of course has a little jump we would pull the sled over. We never went much over like 15 mph, but looking back several of us should have at least been severely injured on a number of occasions. I am still not really sure how I am alive at 30....
Porsche seems to be bent on destroying it’s heritage, so why not?
Or you could buy my clean, running 04 STI with a new forged motor and no aftermarket ugly for less.
