“Two beetles in the background sit in the shadows of the incredible French gems.”

Nitrile gloves are your friend:

A friend of mine got killed in Atlanta because a waste of oxygen did this very thing in the fast lane of a freeway there. At least in this case, the dipshit got charged and prison time for being an asshole. I think he got 5 years of hard time and is now a felon. Doesn’t bring back my buddy but justice was served.

So the 987 long block with a blown IMS on eBay for 700 bucks with 96k on the clock is a figment of someone’s overblown imagination? Granted a small sample but it’s interesting that there’s one there with this discussion going on.

There’s 2005 987 long block on eBay for 700 bucks with a blown IMS bearing. Hmmm...I guess maybe it’s not as “overblown” as suggested here.

Very Cool. Funny thing: Michael refers to the Pre-War Gran Prix cars as “Monsters”. I always thought they were really big from the pictures in the books I spent my childhood reading (once a motorhead, always a motorhead). Then I saw two of the Auto Unions and the Benz at the Monterey Historics. Wow, much smaller than

In 1975, I was stationed in Millington, TN (about 20 miles east of Memphis) for Navy Aviation Electronics school. I had an opportunity to buy a Lamborghini Miura for 8 large. I could’ve gotten the money but instead I decided to buy a ‘67 Jag E-type for 2k that needed a clutch. Great car. Pass anything on the road

Exactly. Why drop all that coin and not be out there mixin’ it up?

Hi Jerry! Good to see you here. You gonna be at Gerlach this year? I’ll be spinnin’ the blender as usual. (Now you know who I am...) =8^0

Oh Shit! This one in Morgan Hill for 6 large is quite clean, needs nothing, got’s lotsa extras and ... wait for it ... Includes “Membership in the Allante Owner’s Club AND (caps mine) back issues of the club magazine!” You cannot beat that...

This is truly classic. A buncha guys wearing white slip-on shoes has their tighty-whities all twisted around cuz someone is making fun of their “Halo Caddy”. I love it.

OK, yes the Chevy Small Block was a 50's design. But immediately after the introduction, the design began evolving. The Lycoming and Continental civil aviation engines were designed and certified in the 50's too but since then the design has been completely stagnant because of the certification process. In the case of

Umm...No. They’re antiquated. Virtually all widely used civil aircraft engines were designed in the 50's and 60's. As we all know, there have been some improvements in internal combustion engine technology since then.

I think the only way I’d drive that in a McLaren if it was someone else’s.

Great stuff Ken! Thanks for posting this up!

RUF has always gone their own way as far as style and this is no different. I love the 70's 911 Carrera RS look and this has it in spades but it does look about 1 degree off. I’m thinking it’s the droopy tail that doesn’t match up with the front end. The 993 never really did it for me but I wouldn’t kick one outta bed

Wonderful story Rob. My Judo instructor, nearly 50 years ago, had a TF. He dailyed it back then. Doesn’t look like this lovely car gets that kind of treatment.

Oddly enough, I’m also in the Western US. Northern California actually...

Next time I’m in Portland, you can expect a call from a “not serious buyer”. A serious car freak but not a buyer of any car in that building...

The shop the pics were taken has a rather eclectic selection of cars. I count a pair of LR Defender 90/120's, a WW2 Amblience (that’s what my kids called them 30 years ago and I can’t call them anything else now, which drives them nuts), an Audi Ur-Quattro in livery, a Lancia, an Alpine, and under one of the covers,
