Agreed. As I said to a friend, comparing book to show, “Same bones, different flesh”.

I also enjoyed the first two episodes. They captured the tone and themes pretty well so far. I read it when it came out, so it ha been a while. I think the only major difference is that the mystery is a missing person instead of a murder, and the book started with Burton being the first to see Future London instead of…
As a huge fan of the book I really enjoyed the show so far. It was compelling enough not to have me constantly comparing it to the book despite the divergences it takes and in the end I just write that off as it being a very similar, but still different, stub from the one in that story.
It’s the story Rebels told but with a focus on Coruscant minus Jedi lore. Hopefully we get some proper politics out of Star Wars this time around.

I’d trade Ohio for half a terawatt and a pizza.
Yes, she is called Queen, but there is a distinction between a queen who reigns because her husband is king (i.e., a queen consort) and a queen like Elizabeth who reigns because she inherited the crown from the previous monarch (a queen regnant). To use a modern-day contrast, when William ascends the throne, Kate will…
I get where you’re going with this, but it really needs to be “on the shore of a dark Scottish lake many miles away” for your allusion to have the synchronicity you’re looking for.
The reality is that there actually aren’t really many rules or laws dictating these things. A lot of it is down to what the monarch decides.
