Very well done! Would like to have had the Zelda theme - perhaps the orchestral version done for the 25th anniversary CD.

In the name of the blessed Triforce, I pray this comes to pass.

I totally missed that in high school anatomy in the 90s. I blame it on the fact that we were always dissecting frogs and fish. Well, you learn something every day!! =P

Yeah, I have the PC version of Liberation. It's second-tier and poorly done. I guess that's all they felt women deserved. I hope you're right about a future game. Part of the need for this discussion is that it raises awareness in the eyes of developers that there's demand out there. And isn't profit-seeking all about

Hmm. Do you have elected representatives in your country? If you disagree with them, do you vote for another person/party or do you run for office yourself? Your logic is ill founded. I shouldn't have to possess the skills necessary to program a video game in order to expect someone else to help make important social

Hell yes. Not to mention how fucking paint-by-numbers AC is getting (perhaps largely because they can't really change up their brooding male formula).

Yes. Because the stories are getting boring and repetitive and maybe addressing the unique experiences of women in different time periods could be an interesting new trajectory. That's one reason, and it's not even part of the other arguably larger justifications for greater representation of women in video games.

So why aren't we asking why the lead character is Arno instead of Arna? Have their not been enough AC games with hooded dudes? Aveline got relegated to a shitty Vita game, so she too was shafted...

Because Metroid is the exception to a rule and Nintendo still fucking put her in a bikini and, later, heels and a skintight suit. This is a problem too. She simply couldn't be a warrior in her own right. The reason you're not going on a 'crusade' is that as a male, you start out in a very privileged position when it

This. So much this. My wife and I had this exact discussion while making dinner just now. And we agree that there is far too little representation of many, many groups. But surely a STARTING point would be half the population and then work from there? Perhaps that's too much to ask.

I'm so on board with this that I've sailed the ship to its destination and disembarked. I would fucking love to play through a game as Zelda. Man...I just don't have enough faith in Nintendo to actually do it. =\

Sounds like you have some anger issues. I hope you get that sorted soon. Don't want an aneurism!

Ha! The comments were more to accentuate how stupidly posed she is. I was poking fun at the impracticalities of her movement in order to show just how stupid it is to bend her in particular directions just so she looks as if she's thrusting her ass out. I could give a fuck about the 'realistic' combat.

Na. Like me, she finds the AC games now incredibly repetitive and boring. They lost us on those grounds. This is just sauce for the goose.

Hmmm. The inclusion of women is only possible if they're a bonus feature. Well that's fucking great. =/

This.

Well shit, try as I might, I can't argue with that!

My wife has been making this point ever since she first started watching/playing the AC games. I of course was oblivious up until that point. Now it sticks out so obviously. I guess female ancestors have nothing to offer.

Thanks for this. The reality is that they made a conscious decision not to include a playable female character. So much money spent on giving us particle effects, larger crowds (some of the NPCs are female at least!), and detailed structures. I am in no position to comment on the relative difficulty of including a
