Adam Goldberg, if you're looking for an alternative title for this ep of The Goldbergs, may I suggest: "This Is Spinal Crack."
I LOVED the episode. One of the best of the season, for sure.
The Goldbergs was great this week. A real pleasure to watch, and full of characters I care about and who make me laugh. That said, am I the only one who is going to mention the meta-ness of the episode? Adam manipulates Murray through a popular song. But The Goldbergs has a habit of sometimes leaning a little too…
Bev ran out of try-out turkeys to cook, and had no choice but to pop Lucky in the oven. There was even a joke (Barry: "What's that meat dish I don't think I've ever tried before?") that got cut from the show for time.
Brooks is a brilliant actor (he was the best thing about "Drive," and almost made "This is 40" tolerable), but I don't think his slow, droll drawl would fit in with the way Garlin and the rest of The Goldbergs talk.
Will, is it wrong that I misread "The Malone-Chambers Act" as "The Marilyn Chambers Act"?
Click is actually surprisingly enjoyable if you watch it drunk or stoned. I haven't seen Grown Ups, but I am guessing that no amount of alcohol or weed could make that thing tolerable…
The Natalie Morales character is beginning to annoy me. All she does is state the obvious in a knowing manner. I hope they give her some other purpose (that doesn't involve her hooking up with Dean) soon.
This one just didn't work for me. Every aspect of it was overly familiar. Take the "assistant bosses character senior to her around" subplot. Wasn't that on "Friends" or something? I will say that I found the assistant extremely attractive, especially with her hair pulled back. I would have fetched her a hundred…
Ditto.
She definitely trained at the Dick Wolf/Law & Order-CSI School of Procedural Acting.
Plus, in this review he wants us to believe that he thought the second ep was a masterpiece (which it was), but he only gave that one a B+.
I wish you were the AV Club reviewer, not the other guy. I can't be the only one who thinks that Fisher feels like she's from an entirely different show on an entirely different channel - a forensic drama on CBS, to be specific.
I liked it.
That's really interesting. Thanks for the details. I recall reading that Letterman hated Craig Ferguson's show, and almost never endorsed it in any way (i.e., telling his viewers to stay tuned for it). This surprised me because World Wide Pants produced Ferguson's show, and thus you would think it would have been in…
I think Maron is one of the best longform interviewers alive. But, and I know this would hurt like hell if he encountered this comment, I think his standup is pretty terrible. He has very little presence, and his jokes aren't all that good (or sharp). I respect that standup comedy (and mapping ts history) is such an…
What? What's the story there? Do please tell. Is it because of Paul Shafer?
That was a damn fine comment. Damn fine!
She is hot and talented. I think the two new leads were perfectly cast, and the fact that I am not really familiar with either makes the show even more fun.
