Agree that this one felt like it was trying too hard. It felt self-important, overworked, and overly wordy (and I usually love this show's dialogue). No great fan of the uneven and rather stale plot either. (References to the movie Saw, really?) By the way, before anyone attacks me, this is my favourite show.

Agree

How did Jefferies make it to the US anyway? I am just curious, as I wasn't familiar with him before now. What was his big break, and how did he break through?

The idea that Jewish South Africans (of which I am one) "gladly partook" in apartheid is one that really disturbs me. Sure Jews (along with all other South African whites) partook in apartheid, but to say "gladly" feels wrong - and cruel. Jews were at the forefront of civil resistance to apartheid, and were

The actress who plays Mike's daughter-in-law is really quite beautiful.

This was maybe the best ep of Better Call Saul yet.

A few months ago, I rewatched the early seasons of Mr. Show with Bob and David. Michael McKean starred in one episode, and shared a sketch with Bob Odenkirk. So they obviously have had a long relationship, have worked together before, and I think that's why their rapport and performances on the show are so strong, why

Don't feel bad for him. The guy can cry into his trust fund.

Exactly right. And that despicable, rape-y, chilling, "Got a hug for Bushy," put the last nail in his coffin, as far as I was concerned.

Because he tries way too hard. And because (as Marc Maron and others charge) he cynically pretends to be a nerd (Nerdist Industries, anyone?) when it is obvious he is anything but. And because he hosted Singled Out with Jenny McCarthy before the internet was a thing. Because he's everywhere and has nothing to say. But

There are many, many reasons to hate the Spy Kids movies, but chief amongst them is that they introduced the world to that Taylor Lautner doofus.

The Faculty is great and still holds up. One of those genre movies that is just an insane amount of joy in every way. Heck, even Josh Hartnett is good in it. And pre-Fast and Furious Jordana Brewster is criminally attractive.

Those shrill, obnoxious, headache-inducing Spy Kids movies were the beginning of the end.

Rodriguez is more heartbreaking for me because he is technically so much more gifted. It was very obvious very early on that Smith was incredibly limited in what he could do as both writer and director. Still, at least some of his early movies felt fresh (especially Chasing Amy and the joyously ribald but still

I don't apologize for my race and gender like Chris Hardwick does all the time. I do, however, apologize all the time for Chris Hardwick. I'm like, "On behalf of all white people, I would like to apologize for giving you Chris Hardwick. That dude tries way too hard, is a middling comic talent, and, in all probability,

Wasn't that movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola? And it's one of the WORST movies I've ever sat through (every bit as bad as anything by Kevin Smith). Starring Robin Williams in eternally-mugging-but-excruciatingly-unfunny mode. Very possibly also extremely depressed at the time. And to top it all off, a cameo

I really wanted to like Clerks 2. It was just awful and felt totally fake. It felt like a terrible (albeit unrated) pilot of a sitcom that will never be picked up to series.

His "strong suit" was replaced by hockey jerseys and shorts. And weed.

The (Un)Real Ghostbusters?
