I worked at a charter school that had leadership very much like this: outward progressives who feel that oppressing the student body with rigid discipline and dress code is justified to “help them succeed.” She felt a bit too real to me

For me, it was the timing. Isaac deleting the voicemail was terrible, and Maeve would have been justified in saying she didn’t trust him after that. Instead, she forgives him for that and ditches him later.
Agree that it’s not very timely (the CW has a zom com, for heaven’s sake). Perhaps consequently, the critics aren’t going to go for it because it lacks novelty. Doesn’t mean that it won’t be entertaining (in spite of my really ambivalent feelings about Bill Murray).
Jim Broadbent: his skills are probably comparable to mine
I felt that Fontana’s Greg was clearly a giant dick but he had a sympathetic side and wore his insecurities on his sleeve (think “Settle For Me” and “I Could If I Wanted to”). Nu-Greg doesn’t seem as sympathetic to me (think “I Hate Everything But You”). I don’t know if I think it’s the acting or the writing, though.…
I think Hem’s “Half Acre” was in Liberty Mutual ad, and I immediately loved it. (Conversely and oddly, I was so sad to hear The Shins in a McDonald’s ad.)
I came here to say that!
Not sure if people conflating Bryan and Ryan Adams accidentally or for a “69” joke ... also honestly don’t get sarcasm very well, so the internet is hard for me.
An exclamation point? Let’s not get too crazy
Isn’t divorce (and remarriage) frowned upon by evangelicals, too?
UCC and Quaker too. As an Episcopalian, I know several clergy who are gay
I think there’s a couple of issues here: musicals that were adapted from other formats (animated, Broadway, etc.) carry all the weight of their predecessors and have to surpass the originals to justify their existence, BUT you can’t wander too far away from what made them successful in the first place. And for…
And I get distracted by Meryl Streep’s Streepness. She’s so well-known that she doesn’t disappear into the character for me
I’ve never been able to abide Rent, in any format. I strongly dislike La Boheme, so maybe Rent didn’t have a chance with me to begin with.
I’d pulled it together pretty well after the movie montage, but Eleanor welcoming Chidi at the end ... ugly cry. And I’m just here to commiserate with the other ugly criers during this episode
Average Anna doesn’t sound all that average to me ... as American males lose their virginity (using the hereto penetrative definition) at 16.9 years and American women at 17.4 years, Average Anna isn’t.
I also thought “Sports Analogies” was probably the best showcase of Scott’s voice that the show has done
Gabrielle Ruiz is from an RGV border town. I’d be really surprised if she doesn’t speak Spanish.
I was the lucky one in my family to discover the Orson Welles outtakes from Wikipedia after YEARS of quoting the Pinky & the Brain version. I got to share that with my brothers over the holidays this year - an absolute joy to watch them double over and almost fall out of chairs in response
I remember one from Animaniacs
