Yes, but I also read this "I just hope that the person who feels completely overwhelmed can see they can control their own destiny. To know that there’s no excuse for not making time for yourself."

Yeah, this is how I interpreted it too. I don't understand how three words and a picture become "Everyone's body should look just like mine."

I feel like I am the densest person in the world today - I just do not see where people are getting that she's saying "What's your excuse for not being thin?" I see it as "What's your excuse for not putting in this hard work?"

Well that's sort of what I am saying, though - is the image meant to say "what's your excuse for not looking like me?" Or is it saying "What's your excuse for not exercising / eating healthily?" I get that her level of health and fitness gave her a body that is not going to be achievable for most people (including

I don't know, I kind of see how she meant it? Obviously there are a lot of legitimate excuses for not being able to exercise out there. But I think there are a lot of people who say that they just don't have time, energy, they're too busy, whatever. That's a fairly common thing, isn't it? It seems to me that that's

Haha, well I stand corrected, I guess they can tell us! :)

Yeah, I was just talking about that with someone in a different comment thread - I'm sorry people are attacking you. I know indoor and outdoor people love their cats equally, they just have different priorities! Ultimately everyone is just trying to make their cats as happy as possible. I grew up on a farm and saw a

Thank you for being reasonable too! I think people get passionate about it because they can't stand the idea of their cat getting hurt, and just can't really get beyond that point to think about the bigger issues like cat quality of life. Whereas I pretty much think that when it comes down to debates like these,

That's totally your right and your choice - I was just pointing out that it's a big danger. A lot of people think cats will naturally avoid cars / roads, and that's just not true.

Sorry, my reply came off really bitchy for no reason. I genuinely hope your cat remains safe, and it sounds like he has developed a fear of the big road, probably because of all the noise and activity. That's really great and will probably help keep him safe. That's different than a natural instinct to avoid roads,

Scared of big loud machine is not the same thing as an instinct to avoid roads, though. If it was, why would any cat ever get hit by a car?

It's definitely an extreme example - the only reason I brought it up was because I actually read an article a while back about a National Zoo scientist who was arrested for deliberately poisoning cats in DC. It's a pretty amazing story, actually.

Nope. They don't. You're projecting an instinct onto your cat that it does not have. Maybe it's scared of cars, and that's great for you I guess, but a cat does not and cannot have a natural instinct to avoid cars. How would it? Cars are not a natural predator of cats, so they are not going to have an evolutionary

I think the main issue people are talking about are songbirds, which cats go after with a vengeance. People who like songbirds don't like cats, and in extreme cases that results in people hurting cats / turning them in to animal shelters for them to be put to sleep.

My mom likes the thrill of the chase. Now that my sister and I are adults and don't really need or want the "hot toy" of the year, she still goes out and stands in lines and braves the crowd to get the special Furby or Tickle Me Elmo or whatever, but she donates them to Toys For Tots.

There is no sound I like more than cats chattering at birds and squirrels!

Eeek! I don't think he would do that - he never really tries to go outside, he seems to be content to just sit there and sniff. He even gets tired of it after a while and hops down from the windowsill.

I always wanted to do this in my apartment in New York - apparently people build little enclosures right out of their high rise windows! I have screens on my windows, so I try to open them often and let my cat at least sniff the outdoors.

If you have a backyard, or even a little porch area, it can be great to let your cat outdoors for some supervised play time. Other than that...no no no no no no. Unless you want to severely shorten their lifespan. Outdoor cats face getting hit by cars (they do not have any instinct that tells them to avoid roads),

I have a full shelf full of specific shoes I was made to buy for bridesmaids dresses and have NO idea what to do with them, but like you, feel weird about getting rid of shoes I only wore once!
