I think this is a common misunderstanding. As someone who has spent an embarrassing amount of time in atheist forums, I find most atheists use the term in it's original meaning (meaning non-theistic) rather than dogmatically against the possibility of a god. On a scale of 1-7 of belief, 7 being conviction that there

Exactly. Atheists don't question their lack of belief in God/gods the same way that the average person doesn't question their belief in Godzilla. We assume the negative until compelling evidence is found. If there was any reasonable evidence to suggest that God or Godzilla existed I'd happily reevaluate my world view,

Oh man, I was so into Adventures in Odyssey. I would listen to it as I fell asleep with a tape recorder under my pillow (surprisingly comfortable) and I still have a bunch of cassette tapes with episodes on them in my garage.

I was raised Agnostic. Religion didn't come up in my family, although my mom dated a born again young eart Christian for a while.

So why wouldn't God just magically impart his infinite wisdom on to Job (us)? Presumably it's because we need to go through the trials of life in order toolearn that wisdom (though even in heaven it is usually implied that we will never be equal to God. Unless you're a Morman). So the question remains what did God do

I'll admit to being a somewhat obsessive antitheist. It's not that I'm busy contemplating the non-existence of God, more that I'm baffled by the concept of faith, and cannot wrap my head around the fact that adults not only subscribe to it, but see it as a virtue. It's just this massively common thing that I'm not

@scrawler thats pretty much my plan, should I ever have a kid. I believd in Santa long after most of my friends did because I couldn't comprehend my own parents lying to me. Turns out there were much bigger secrets being kept in my family.

Do we have confirmation yet on whether her legs go all the way down to the floor?

Tarkovsky was an atheist? Can I get a citation on that? Most of what I've heard about him has given me the impression that he was pretty deeply religious, while being conflicted about his faith. (I've always kind of seen him as The Stalker, wanting so badly to make others believe, while personally fighting his own

It just occured to me this week after watching The Deep Blue Sea 2011 (which got a glowing review on this here website) that I just cannot buy into movies where a character romantically obsesses over someone who treats them badly. I have no patience for it in real life, and although I'm sure there's a way to make it

@eric827:disqus Nothing. I was talking about Blossom, not their shared characteristics (I wouldn't really call Angela Chase "confident" either).
