He's dead wrong about the MCU being a "creature feature" like Lavantula though. The MCU took off because they got people involved who had genuine affection for the material and wanted to do it well.
I give him points for saying it was just acting, and avoiding the temptation to say "Yep, that was really me. I really am that cool. And a different starlet every night. It just happens."
There are no small parts, just small actors, as the saying goes.
My point is that it "worked well" at the time. Whether it "holds up" is a separate question, which should take context into consideration, IMHO. It's a bit unfair (or at least uninteresting) to say something doesn't hold up without consideration of the context that more or less forced it to be exactly what it is.

Perhaps that's what "Plomeek soup" is a euphemism for? No wonder Spock got upset when Chapel took it so literally.
If the Punisher is treated as a villain, and gets his ass kicked by Matt, then this will be another successful season.
Is there any doubt they are going to rip off a previous movie and/or classic episode(s) again.
I'm pretty sure that the whole "Spock has to return to Vulcan" thing was because that was where T'Pring lived. Don't take the salmon analogy too literally.
I don't know. It sounds a lot like Die Hard 2. Right down to the syrup thing.
