Totally agree that this shouldn’t be necessary in the first place. From the language in the full statement, it does seem like they recognize the problems lie in their development process and they’re trying to remedy those (which is why they’re delaying those other games currently in the pipe).

In addition to what other people have mentioned, the devs said the disparity between your gear score and those of your enemies is also supposed to determine how easily you are spotted/detected. So if you’re way out-leveled, you’ll need to take a bit more care moving around enemies (human and drone alike).
