[Transports back to mid-2000s]: He got JACKED UP!

Somebody better bean Jurickson Profar in the fucking head in his next at-bat.  That’s how it works, right?

Thanks!  I also speak jive.

Here, I’m a lawyer, so let me translate this into English:

I will say, based on my experience, even in obvious scouting/look situations, the scout team is specifically told to make it look as game-realistic as possible, which means *not* throwing it directly to the DBs.

Remember when all these tough talking FOOTBAW coaches acted like real men and accepted the consequences of their actions?

I stand by my previous allegations.

Anonymous sources are only acceptable when it comes to smearing some kid’s draft stock for “character concerns.”

I can’t believe this Taiwanese baseball league is just going to act like the First Amendment doesn’t apply to them.

I agree.  I actually listened to this entire podcast (I am a Phillies fan).  Werth was not against the shift, per se.  He was asked a disguised question about why Ryan Howard could not hit opposite field against the shift (Howard’s name was implied, not spoken) and Werth basically said “because he was told to try to

well sure, that was the pre-Trust-the-Prostate era

Was Pete really that averse to taking it to the rim?

As stupid as the specifics of Werth’s rant are (nerds! computers on the field! MIT grads who never played!), I think his overall point is different from the reactionaries during the sabermetric revolution. He’s not saying bunts are better for helping win games than home runs, or that advanced metrics are preventing

This is probably the best take on the issue. Baseball is at least 50% less fun. All of the HRs make them less exciting (with the exception of guys like Stanton and Judge hitting monster shots), and all of the Ks make for a lot less action.

I still maintain that, while it may be a more efficient brand of baseball nowadays, it definitely isn’t the most entertaining form. And I say this as someone that probably watches a couple hundred games a year.

I think the Rockets’ implosion over the next couple years is gonna be pretty fun to watch. Chris Paul is somehow both one of the greatest point guards of all time while also possibly being the main reason Chris Paul will never win a championship.

... there r SoccerStreams of more dubious legality but extremely high quality out there for all to find with just a quick Google search.

The greatest “knock” against Owens’ character is that he played most of his career before social media.

...meanwhile, your most racist uncle will just remember Moss as “that punk that faked mooning the crowd”
