If you’re making a Ghostbusters film that doesn’t appeal to people who like Ghostbusters... the why the fuck are you making a Ghostbusters film at all?

What made the MCU the MCU was those fans being actively catered to however.
Kind of baffled as to how Ghostbusters came to be thought of as “kid-friendly.”
It is a complicated endeavor to take on this franchise, which means so many different things to different people.” ...Reitman also told us that, with Afterlife, he’s attempting to not only cater to fans of all types while linking multiple generations, but also set the table for the future of the franchise.
So, if I’m reading this right (and I might not be!) it seems like this is sorta/kinda like how Lucasfilm sold Pixar... but kept ILM?
If the studio puts it in the marketing, it’s not really a spoiler anymore. It’s advertising. It’s a thing they want you to know is in the movie so you’ll actually want to go to it.
Does it end with the Mackenzie Grace character handing her proton wand to an ambivalent-looking Ray Stantz on the shores of the lake at Camp Waconda?
All true, but I think Solo is a legitimately boring movie and would’ve flopped regardless of when it was released.
It doesn’t really matter what the films Jenkins is busy with.
I think the lukewarm response to TRoS and the success of The Mandalorian forced Lucasfilm to reconsider its approach to the Star Wars franchise.
it’s a side-effect of “movie gets prematurely announced” becoming a huge part of the neverending marketing campaigns.
Patty seems to have a lot more in common with Zack Snyder than it would seem on first glance, specifically in the way where they will take on huge projects that are really sort of stacking the deck against themselves from the jump.

I think you’re overthinking this a bit.... people traditionally went to these to see independent creators and gather with like-minded fans or to actually meet new people and see new things.
Conventions becoming smaller-scaled vector points for communicable disease (and also toy collecting) once again seems very, very likely after a very weird, very unlikely 10 year run of being giant-sized hyper-commercial Marketing Extravaganzas that have almost zero to do with comic books at all. I don’t know that this…
Ok No one is saying this
They are talking about a “ 3 movie storyline” because not having that plan is 100% part of the issues with the sequel trilogy of SW movies.
I think you are making a HUGE assumption though. No one expects them to plan out every detail.
I suspect that’s because we’re now living in an era where it’s assumed that every major franchise is planned out in extensive detail... the old way of building a franchise just doesn’t work with modern audiences, who expect longform stories to make some kind narrative sense.
Lucas had a plan for the prequels, in the 90s.
