while you are right that the original trilogy sort of made it up as it went along, THIS new trilogy was intended at the start to be a trilogy.

They almost flat-out bought No Time to Die for 600 mil IIRC. (and honestly, with as “well” as the film is doing theatrically, COVID notwithstanding - I think EON would have made more money taking that deal, ultimately) I think they were involved in the MGM talks as well. I guess they coulda gone after Sony, but Sony

I gotta imagine Hulu gets merged into Disney+ (like it more or less is everywhere else) way sooner than later. Which will probably be Disney’s excuse to up the subscription to 10-12 bucks a month from 8.

Star Wars has never not been created by the seat of its pants. Both prior trilogies didn’t have an overarching plan, they just winged it movie-to-movie. Each time! And it’s not just Star Wars: almost everything widely beloved by the “geek culture” or whatever, (at least everything that wasn’t a direct adaptation of a

Hopefully they don’t tack too much of surcharge onto Max when they fold Disco into it. Also, it’ll be funny when, after HBO Max’s naming being confusing as shit when it launched, the platform name gets changed again for this endeavor (WarnerMax, probably) just as everyone finally got used to calling it HBO Max.

He was going to be Plagueis.

Run, Shadowfax. Show us the meaning of paste

The thing is, though, cartoons aren’t going to make $1 billion unless you’re Pixar/Disney

The DC Animated movies that have come out since the shows essentially proved to everyone how to do these characters correctly, have all been mediocre at best in a ton of ways - most of which are budgetary. they’re treated as “Direct-to-video” in the same denigrating way that the term USED to be regarded in the

Big Two comics got gross as fuck from the 90s on forward, it wasn’t a DC-only thing - although DC helped pioneer it with Watchmen & Dark Knight, however nearly the entire comics industry then missed the whole fucking point of those books, and perverted superheroes for the sake of placating insecure men clinging onto

I don’t know that this is necessarily a bad thing

The Venn Diagram of folks who read this site and folks who enjoy Garfield resembles a Tatooine sunset.

I guess I’m sort of surprised that anyone gives this much of a shit about either Chris Pratt doing voiceover work, or Garfield. Like, if a guy whose face we don’t like is going to remove his face from on-camera, to voice a cat whose movie we’re likely never going to watch because, you know, it’s fucking GARFIELD, then

I feel like any of these “explainers” (especially the slideshow ones) should only be done by channeling the Eliot energy from E.T.

He’s directing most of the show’s episodes on top of helping produce and write the show.

...this is gonna be a thing that’s better binged 3 episodes at a shot, isn’t it.

If nothing else, I trust JF and DF to make something special and interesting.

Absolutely. I cannot imagine, for the life of me, Robert Rodriguez signing on to do a Boba Fett TV show, and then hiring Dean Cundey to shoot it... and then just making a gangster movie.

It is so weird how fixated folks are on this dude not looking exactly like their action figure.

Dunno what to tell you.
