I haven’t been following this story much, but what is going on? I heard that he had cheated on his wife, which is obviously bad, but was it worse than just cheating? Like was he manipulating actresses so they would sleep with him?

I understand your concern, but I am not particularly concerned here. The problem with “slippery slopes” is that you can sort of be afraid of anything leading to everything. 

But what if you say “I’m not racist, but...” before you support those racist policies?

I imagine that that is still the case and that the question was whether it was actually appropriate to do so here and in similar cases. No one is going to argue that Knifeologists should be able to wear a shirt made of knives when arrested.
