The UK probably doesn’t have Little League baseball teams that need sponsorship by those middlemen. /s

America” is an ancient word for “land of useless and parasitic middle men”.

Your mom’s a bit twee, a bit cheap, too broad at times, but fine.

My experience has shown that the traditional dealers are ill prepared to properly sell electric vehicles. The most egregious example is one far in the past, but it speaks volumes. I went to test drive a Volt at the largest Chevy dealer in the area and they had none that had any charge in the batteries. So, I was

I’m still disappointed they never gave Will Ferrell impersonating Alex Trebek a chance.

Steve Buscemi has repeatedly said he does not want the job; we should honor his wishes.

It was a really bad joke, and he apologized for it... several times over the years. He admitted that it was a lame attempt to sound edgy, and he always regretted it. I’m just shocked that people keep digging it up, even today.

People get upset when comfortable, long-established institutions have to change, even if they didn’t really give a fuck about them on a day-to-day basis.

This is a great cast that I would love to see in action, but God, do I abhor true crime. It’s such a non-genre. Not quite reality, not quite fiction. Unable to really commit to either one. Always plowing through the most worn out story beats, trying to make them seem new and interesting, even though they’re clearly

That he caught feelings was not the issue

The mention of Nick Cassavetes reminds me of a bizarre story from my college days:

Fucking sucks.

These Marvel shows seem to be going for a ‘crazy, boundary pushing one’ followed by ‘straight actioner’ one. Happy with that approach and love a good Christmas setting - definitely seems to be aiming for that Die Hard/Shane Black vibe.

But our acceptance of this historic affront to realism (which, of course, does go back to the stage—how often is it really a kid up there as Hamlet?) has waned in recent years, as Hollywood has increasingly cast real teenagers as teenage characters.

The two sequels have (most) excellent fight scenes and few okay story beats, but generally I find watching them a drag.

“Dessert planet Arrakis.”  Yum, such a sweet prize!

“sallow, hairless, bloated fascists”

the next trailer might be better at conveying what makes this fantasy world different from all the other fantasy worlds.
