I read all the books as they came out but never re-read any, so my memory of them is pretty fuzzy at this point. So, I’m not too put off by changes from the source material. I appreciate that they’re not making it overly Rand-centric. I’m tired of the “chosen one” trope in fantasy at this point too, but my biggest

I like this season a lot better than the first, but I kinda agree with you, especially with regards to Perrin and Mat. It makes sense for Rand to seek out Logain, since he’s freaked out about his power and doesn’t know anyone else who could teach him, and if he shacks up with a hot innkeeper while doing that...well,

I’m pessimistic about new Star Wars stuff at this point, but this looks rad.

It is hard to figure out where to go after the sequels fucked everything up. You can’t keep making movies/shows that exist in-between other movies. You have to expand the overall timeline at some point. So, my two awesome ideas*:

I do think that the Clone Wars series made the prequels retroactively better by filling in some plots holes and fleshing out Anakin as a character, so I am ok with The Mandalorian and other series trying to rehabilitate the sequels a bit. It’d be better if they would make Star Wars movies that made sense on their own,

I still like the show overall, but I have a couple minor problems at this point:

I feel like this is a really good story about a Pakistani-American girl coming to terms with her identity and heritage that has a mediocre superhero story tacked on.

I’m trying to get the idea out there that the blue states should secede and merge with Canada. If the northeast, upper midwest, and west coast states joined with Canada, it would still be a contiguous country, and Canada would be getting the majority of the U.S. economy and the majority of top U.S. universities. So,

I liked the previous episode, but felt like this finale dropped the ball on furthering the interesting developments from the prior episode. I thought that one of the big lessons from the 5th episode was that Obi-wan realized that he couldn’t take Vader in a head-to-head physical/force and that the way to win is by not

I do feel like this has a much stronger premise than Book of Boba Fett. Obi-wan is a more nuanced character with a rich history, especially if you include the Clone Wars series. It makes sense to explore how he would deal with his time in the desert following Palpatine’s coup and Anakin’s turn to the dark side. And I

I totally agree. Maybe I should have amended my comment from “a good story” to “a story.” Taking the anti-colonialist angle could have made for a coherent narrative and some motivation for the main character, but you’re right that they still most likely wouldn’t have done it well.

This show definitely became an unintentional comedy for me...maybe the most fun I’ve had with one since I quit watching The Walking Dead in its middle seasons.

Not to get into that whole debate again, but this is something I liked about The Last Jedi. It seemed like Luke finally realized that there were some really questionable or even damaging elements of the Jedi philosophy, and maybe it would be better to develop some different, more multifaceted way of relating to the

There was so much fan service going on here that I was half-expecting Cad Bane to be played by Walton Goggins, and he’d reveal Cobb’s past as part of the spice mining operation on Kessel. “Cobb, we dug spice together.”

I liked The Mandalorian well enough, and I’d be a little more charitable and say it’s slightly above average, but it’s pretty overrated. I got Disney+ about a year ago and expected to be blown away by season 1 after everything I heard about it, but it was more, “eh, this is enjoyable enough to watch at 2:00 am while

Yeah, I enjoyed the majority of the books, and I’m glad they exist, but I wouldn’t really recommend the series to anyone, at least not without serious qualifications. I feel about the same towards the show—the show just has different flaws. When the show was announced, I had hope that a good show runner could whittle

I appreciate listing out all the positives. I enjoy the show, am glad it exists, and will watch future seasons, even if I like to complain about some things. And I do really think it was hitting its stride in the middle episodes, but whether it was COVID, losing the actor who played Mat, or whatever, it felt like they

This kind of made me think...why didn’t they just have Sanderson write the thing? They’d still need a director and show runner and stuff to handle actually converting it to a visual format, and they could even have other writers handle some of the specific scenes or dialogue or whatever, but they really should have

It feels like the writers really were considering going in a different direction with the Dragon Reborn, but then they chickened out and kinda half-heartedly committed to having it be Rand in episode 7. This episode should have been Hot Rod opening the Autobot matrix in the only good Transformers movie crossed with

I thought it was totally fine. I actually liked the beginning “meta” section better than the 2nd part of the film outside the matrix. The first part was somewhat clever and funny, had Jonathan Groff being a douchey tech CEO, and had Neal Patrick Harris being a douchey therapist. Once they got out into the “real
