Not sure it’s reasonable to say Rodgers flat out “isn’t smart enough”, nor is actually being smart a pre-req to host a show like that. Trebek hosted like 37 game shows before he came to Jeopardy!, he was chosen cause he was a game show host, not a Mensa member.
Objectively, Mayim Bialik did a decent job, but there’s something just so incredibly off-putting about her personality. Someone said, “smarmy”, someone else said, “faux intellectual” - that comes close but doesn’t quite capture whatever it is about her that rubs me the wrong way.
I don’t get the love for Rodgers at all. Seems nice, but really boring. Not sure Bialik would be a *bad* choice, but she strikes me as low key smarmy.
The obvious choice is Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek .Forever.
Also, they should just have Patrick Warburton do it.
There was also a lengthy flashback where Marion was a child and raced pods for some reason, but despite being mostly filmed and edited it was cut after Spielberg decided that including too much child slavery might not go over well with the MPAA, who he was struggling to convince to give the film a PG rating.

Try this one weird trick to not get hungover! Your bladder will hate you!
I mean, to be fair, this is more AV related than most AV Club articles. ‘Matter’ is quite relative on the good ol ‘Net.
It was so weird that they had her casually murder those guys. Then seem to feel bad when Battlestar died in a fight.
Marvel politics is pretty woolly-headed.
The article is all about how the author believes Marvel isn’t challenging audiences. Well, racist ass America being confronted with movies like Black Panther and a black Captain America is exactly that.
>Surely there are other opportunities that afford greater freedom, just maybe not as much filthy lucre?
Ultimately, for Marvel to truly be tested, they would need to actively antagonize their audience. They would need to strip away all that robust infrastructure, release-date dominance, and storytelling formulas that have made them such a success. Realistically, they would need to make a movie without Kevin Feige. He’s…
I think this phase of Marvel has been very gradually expanding to other themes and genres in a way that has kept the franchise feeling interesting (at least to me). WandaVision was a mystery about grief, Falcon & The Winter Soldier discussed race far more explicitly than anything else the MCU has done (including Black…
