Yeah, Spectre was definitely the worst of the Craig films for me. I feel like with every Bond era, there comes a point where it’s just run its course, and they need to blow things up and start over again. Die Another Day definitively signaled that for the Brosnan era, and Spectre did the same for the Craig era. The

I’m not sure I’ll vote for him in the primary, but I do like him quite a bit. I think he’s basically a gay Obama. He’s very smart, can make difficult issues comprehensible to the average voter, is somewhat technocratic (i.e., makes decisions based on expert input and data analysis), and is probably more liberal

Yeah, I share the prevailing sentiment that the last couple seasons of GoT weren’t very good, but I do think they should credit for the good early seasons. Even though they were working with much more detailed source material at that point, there are PLENTY of examples of terrible movie/TV adaptations of good source

I’m not familiar with the source material at all, but this looks like incredibly generic fantasy boilerplate to me. There’s a chosen child whom some bad guys want for some reasons, and there’s an antisocial dude with fighting skills who decides to protect said child despite his misgivings. It looks like antisocial

I haven’t watched Preacher, but I agree on Mr. Robot and Legion. Both have their missteps, but both are also extremely creative thematically and cinematically. The good news is that Esmail and Hawley seem to have plenty of cache right now and will undoubtedly get chances to make more shows (Hawley has another season

I like Kylo and Rey well enough. Kylo (aided by Driver’s performance) is a much more convincing case of a powerful, but troubled kid turning to the dark side than Anakin. Rey is kinda just girl-Luke, but that’s fine, and Ridley, in my opinion, is a better actor than young Mark Hamill.

I don’t know if anyone else is watching this, but I got caught up on Mrs. Fletcher this weekend. I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing show (especially compared to its Sunday night HBO companion, Watchmen), but I do think there’s good and interesting stuff going on there. Kathryn Hahn is great, obviously, in the titular

I kinda wish he were writing it too. I liked The Favourite well enough, but I missed the bizarro dialogue and speech patterns from The Lobster and Killing of a Sacred Deer.

It’d be pretty crazy for the show to cast Tim Blake Nelson and Don Johnson and kill them both off by about half way through.

I’m glad it’s not just me who thought there was a major uptick in “uh-huhs” this season. My wife watches a lot of Asian shows, so our default is to have subtitles on even for shows in English, and I swear an “uh-huh” was popping up every minute or two in the subtitles.

I just caught up with The Deuce and finished the final episode. Judging from the comments on the review here, opinion is divided on the final scene, but, man, it really hit home for me. For me, it’s right up there with the endings to The Wire and Breaking Bad (even though I know the Breaking Bad ending is divisive

Yeah, I get the criticism of it being Franco-centric (and I agree that the old man makeup and acting weren’t great), but even though he wasn’t the most interesting character, it had to be Vincent in the final montage, since he was the hub of the show. I found myself getting a little choked up, even though I have no

Yeah, when I started reading and saw it described as a “tragicomedy,” I thought, “Oh, maybe this is something I could watch with my wife.” But by the end of the review, I was thinking, “NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!” We have a good marriage too, but I know there are subterranean fault lines (especially that bit about different

I watched and loved The Leftovers and didn’t watch Lost, so I’m more favorably disposed towards Lindelof.

I thought this was going to end with God getting killed when a giant dildo falls on his head.

I wonder if there’s just less appetite for more content from the GoT universe, given the largely negative reaction to the end of the show. HBO was clearly thinking that people would be desperate for more GoT and wanted to make sure they could satisfy that craving, but now they’re realizing if they bring forth more GoT

I will say I got a little excited at the beginning of each Righteous Gemstones episode that had the little nudity marker at the beginning, thinking it might be Judy or Amber. However, I think it was always Chad’s dick, Keefe’s dick, or BJ’s ass. I guess there were some naked sex workers in the incriminating video, but

I also like to think that maybe I and/or my mom have weak telekinetic powers.

I think I’ve told this story here before, but it might have been pre-Kinja, so I’ll tell it again. I’m a pretty hardcore skeptic about supernatural stuff. I went from being a Mulder in my teens to an early X-Files Scully afterwards, but I still don’t know what to make of this incident.

Agreed on all fronts. I feel like bringing back Palpatine is just basically admitting that they fucked up the whole Snoke story line and had to scramble for some big bad beyond Kylo. Maybe they have some clever way of pulling it off and everything will work well in the film, but as of now, I’m thinking I would have
