I love these games, they hide a lot of real social commentary inside of a bizarre and insane premise. I'm afraid a movie would take the surface-value "broishness" of the series at face value and the subtle discussion of digital culture, nerd culture, and the current state of violence in media would be lost.

The "you didn't pray hard enough or have enough faith" is correct, but even more telling is when people assume that God "just wanted it that way." So it takes away ANY sort of guilt or responsibility. That way people can just drift through life without ever having to make any real decision or feeling any real regret.

Doctor Strange usually takes Dormammu down with some kind of dick move. Really the only reason he ever survives at all is because Dormammu actually keeps his word.

I hope that Dormammu is the big bad. If they just go with Mordo, it would be a typical good-guy-fights-bad-guy-with-exact-same-powers fight at the end. If they go with Dormammu—then Clea is introduced, we get to see the mindless ones, and the wackiness of the alternate dimensions will be a huge part of the film.
